I'm thinking of buying this beauty, but I'm looking for your guys' opinions.

I don't know what type of music you play but if this guitar would fit your bill then I imagine it will be worth buying it. I didn't see a price. Others here will be better able to give you price guidance. Nice!

I'd be playing it in a high school jazz combo and big band setting. Btw, the price listed is $1975.

Wow Happa, that's a real beauty! I do think it's priced a little high but than again it has those awesome inlays which are pretty rare on a 575.

See if you can talk them into free shipping and make sure they give you a review period so you can return it if there are any unseen defects.

From the looks of it, I'd say she will serve you well! :good_mini:

for playing jazz, blues, or an accoustic like music, this guitar would be great. Looks really nice, lots of figured woods on there. Plus, you're in the wrong forum to talk you out of buying a Heritage. Here, we strongly encourage it!

Oh my!! What a beauty. I'd think thats a dandy price for that guitar. Is that a Spruce top?

That is an amazing 575. I admit to have lusted in my heart for it also. :icon_silent:

The price is about $200 on the high side, but as stated, it does come with some nice custom upgrades. Gryphon is a high end shop in Palo Alto (Northern) California, so their pricing may reflect their clientele. Another plus is that they have one of the best guitar repair/set-up shops and personnel in the country. They are an authorized Martin restoration and warranty shop. I've shopped their and had work done on my Martin 000. They only stock first class gits, acoustic and electric.

Bottom line is you might be able to negotiate a bit, but if you truly want that 575 (a stunner!), make sure they do a complete set-up before hand.

Good luck!

Love Mine!! Would love to have one of those woodgrain pickguards! Go for it!

Must be some High School to actually need that kind of instrumentalist. Very cool.

Now that I think about it you could probably find a spruce top version for the same money. Spruce top would sound far more jazzy than maple, and be a better upgrade for a one pickup guitar.

That guitar is so beautiful. If it were on sale in the U.K.,it would be much more expensive. You'll just have to keep it a little longer if you want to make a profit on it,if you're going to use it on gigs, enjoy,if you're just going to look at it,what a joy to behold ! See my Logo ? GREEN with envy !

That one is a beauty, +1 on that pick guard. I've just recently been re acquainting myself with my 575, great guitars. Appreciating that tone that the wood bridge adds (I believe so anyway). If you get them down a few bucks with a good set up as well, then all the better.

I was quite impressed with Happa's skills when he came by to check out the Eagle I have for sale. As they say, 'The kids are alright!'.

The price seems a tad high, but it's got some sweet upgraded inlays and really looks like an exceptional specimen.

If you don't think you'll miss a bridge pickup (and if you plan to play jazz exclusively you probably won't), I'd say it's a very attractive. Gryphon is a fine and trust-worthy shop, as you probably know. I imagine they have a reasonable return policy if you can't bind with the instrument.

Just for reference, I have a very similar looking 575 that also falls somewhere between a 575 and a 575 Custom (block inlays, fretboard binding but no headstock binding, etc.), and it has two pickups. All maple. Natural color. And it was about $600 less on eBay. But that was a blind deal with all the risk associated with that type of purchase. It just happened to work out. Love that guitar!

I really like how that more-Gibsony shaped, darker pickguard looks over the lighter top in this Gryphon guitar. I might have to track down one of those pickguards for my 575! (BTW, anyone know where to find one? Is that a Heritage offering? Would they sell me one? Or Gibson? Or is it a third-party product?)

In this economy, I'd definitely see how Gryphon responded to an offer for a couple bills less. Ya never know.

Good luck either way!

IMO...you should try to get them down about $300 on the price, but it sure looks nice!

If there is anyone here who knows about buying and selling guitars, Brent would be the one to listen to!
