some tone report on my h137

the poor thing took sick the sat. of psp4; almost no signal from the bridge pup, so no hum cancelling in the middle position.

things got crazy after psp with the start of skool, etc., so i couldn't get the guitar in for service until a few days ago. i just got the rascal back from the local music store yesterday. the problem was a bad solder joint at the neck tone pot.

played a lot last evening and some this morning . . . WOW!

with the pup selector in the middle--i hate 60 cycle hum--with lots of treble on the neck pup and less treble on the bridge, the clear, bell-like chime of the guitar seems like a "mega-fender." strong and clean and just blows me away with its clarity! all thru my teency-weency lil' chuckster amp and a boss frv63 reverb.

funny that my p90-equipped h150 doesn't sound like the 137--i guess that's some of the difference between a solid mahogany body and a maple-capped mahogany bod.

the ergonomics of the 137 are sweet, too. i'd toyed briefly with upscaling the bridge from the lightning style to some kind of tone pros thing with adjustable saddles, but, if the stock bridge is acceptable to marv, jim, and the boys, it's more than good enough for me.

lucky, blessed, and happy iyam! eljay

Plug her into a class A amp set to just breaking up and discover sonic nirvana.

They are very fun guitars! A window to another world; enjoy.

Steiner, would Fender amps be Class A? I have a Fender Champ 600.

Great report. Thanks for sharing and the observation of the differences between the 150 & 137. I also agree with keeping the stopbar tailpiece if it is correctly intonated, leave it alone. There is something to said for simplicity. I had a wrap-around lightning tailpiece on a PRS and loved it. I really like the way PRS makes theirs.

glad you like your 137, Eljay. I think of mine as a mega-fender, too, in fact since I got it, the strat seems thin and lifeless in comparison.

The Champ is by golly!

Do you like it?
