Well I've had my H150 for a few weeks, so today I busted out the new iPhone and recorded a little

Allman Bro style lick so you guys can hear the Seth Lovers that came stock in it. I was playing at

a very low volume so I put a Catlinbread Silver Kiss in front of my Deluxe Reverb. It's a rough

recording but you'll get the idea, and please no cracks about my playing this is just a 3 minute

demo, first take, and first time I ever recorded with the voice recorder in an iPod:)

Nice tones, nice playing, beautiful 150 - is that a chestnut finish?

and thanks for posting a sound clip. really appreciate the sound clips!

Thanks for the words guys, I really like when people post clips and alot of people wanted to know

what the pickups in this guitar sounded like. Brent told me it had a good neck pickup and he wasn't

kidding, the middle and bridge positions are also very good and each position works for the finger

style that I use.

Pegleg32 - yes it has a built in mic, and the necessary sound recorder

Genericmusic-glad you like it

Thats great. Sounds good, both the playing and captured sounds. Thanks for posting the clip.

Nice looking H150 as well. Nice flame and colour.

Tully - thank you, I really like this guitar and I've had a few very nice Les Pauls. What's great is that everything

that counts for tone on this guitar is stock. I just changed out the knobs, pickguard and pickup rings. I've

had a hard time finding a Les Paul that gets a great neck pickup tone. Not one thing needs changing on

this guitar. It may be the best Les Paul style guitar I've had yet, and believe me, I wasn't expecting that!

A lot of people in the Les Paul community feel Heritages aren't as good as the historic LP series. Well this

Heritage works way better for my style than any historic LP I've owned! It also has a very nice neck profile

and my historics had clubs for necks. That's why I sold them! I would personally like to thank the guys that

built this one, and yes I own a lot of really nice guitars, some cost me 2 and 3 times the price of this one

and the H150 hangs with all of them.

very nice- i enjoyed that and am glad you like the H150...I have two (2) and love them...

Very nice! Got a tab you worked that off of or just wing it?

No, I just was goofing with the voice recorder in my iPhone and showing my girlfriend how much I liked

the H-150. That's pretty much the way I play electric guitar, although after I made the recording, I found

a better tone by backing up the gain on the Silverkiss, and turning up the treble a little. That's why the

neck pickup sounded a little dark, but believe me it sounds much better than that recording. Also I just got

off the phone with my older brother who turned me on to music when we were both in elementary school,

and we were discussing the Allman Bros so you know how that works:)

I'm Glad you are really bonding with that H 150!!!

Yes Brent I really like it, and when I went on vacation (2 weeks), I found myself thinking about it:) I finally

spent the time on the setup that I like. It was setup great to begin with, but I rarely use a pick so I had to

RAISE the action a bit, put on a slightly higher string gauge, and reset the intonation to accomodate the

new string gauge. I really missed having a fat sounding LP type tone. My slide guitars have great mids

and highs, but I was missing the lows. My other guitars are longer scale which I think screws with the

neck pickup thing. The pole pieces are never in the right place, plus tuning stability seems to be affected.

These are my other guitars that I use for slide, they are quite removed from the basic LP tone!!! `

I seem to be quite drawn to this image. What is this guitar?

.................and wingnut, I love when people post clips that's why I did this:)

+1. Love hearing others approaches to the same instrument.

Do you have some heritage clips on soundclick? I would like to hear what those Phat Cats sound like!

Dan

Yes Dan, look for artist HowardND. There are a couple of 'test' tracks for my 5E3 with a 150 loaded with Phat Cats :)

Are they the clips that say 150 bright and normal? If so that's a nice sounding amp, I prefer the bright clips.

I generally set my amps bright because I rarely use a pick.

Yes, those ones :) Look in the amps section of the forum for a huge thread of the complete build of my amp :)

The tune 'SpaceChaser' is also Phat Cats if I remember correctly. Are you thinking of popping some in? Well worth it in my opinion.

Fantastic set of guitars you have by the way. Very 'Zemaitis' - is that what they are?

Posted

Yes I wanted to hear the Phat Cats just in case I was to buy another Heritage. I wanted to compare them to P90's.

Basically to see what t hey had going on, are they P90 sounding, or do they have their own magic.

As for my guitars pictured...

One is a Greco Zemaitis that has been gutted and all electronics replaced with RS parts, and custom wound Tom Short

humbuckers. I actually sent the guitar to Tom and had him play it at his band practices so he would know what the basic

tone of the guitar was before he wound the pickups. Tom is the epitome of a guitar enthusiast / pickup winder so he did

a GREAT job on it.

The other is a Teye LaLlama which is loaded with his proprietary electronics and custom Lollar Imperials. Teye was a

good friend of Zemaitis and learned many of his guitar building techniques from owning two Zemaitis guitars. I LOVE

the tone of this guitar but I'm not too sure I like the 25.5" scale, that is something I'm wrestling with.

The old guitar is a 1965 Supro Lexington which is a monster slide machine. The Supro single coils really are special.

The last is a Harnden Switchblade which was custom built for me. His pickups are also something to behold!
