kbp810 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Oh yeah, the G brand pops up quite a lot for me as well. Yeah, I see the Firebird X one from time to time... not sure which is worse, that or the political ad's
pegleg32 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 check yr avatar, bud LOL ain't it the truth!!!
Guest HRB853370 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I seriously reduced my patronage to this forum a couple years back due to political discussion. I can say political mention is rare and very, very brief and you can count on me to not join that discussion. You a left winger Barry?
barrymclark Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 You a left winger Barry? Nope. ...nor right. I've just seen what those discussions do to really good forums and I want nothing to do with it. There is a time and a place for everything.... and every place and everytime for me is not for politics. I honestly avoid discussion of that and religion like the plague. All it does is divide. No thanks.
SouthpawGuy Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I use Firefox and adblock plus and a host of other add ons, I don't see an ad or banner on 99% of the sites I visit. On a site dedicated to the love of Heritage guitars politics = bolitics, i.e. The practice of talking utter bollocks about politics. In my opinion of course
smurph1 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Heck there is no argument here, it has to be maple or it's not a Fender. +1 ZILLION
Guest HRB853370 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 This thread should not be in the Heritage guitar section of the forum!!
Genericmusic Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 On a Fender?!?!? Are you crazy? .......... sorry, just wanted to be part of the political scene. LMAO Politically I am an anarchist. I just wanted to stir the pot a little. Actually my tele has a maple fret board and I wouldn't have it any other way. I believe the fret board on my Eagle is ebony and I wouldn't change that for all the farms in Cuba.
jjkrause84 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 The rule is that you can't talk about politics....but they mean American politics, in practice (probably because Yankee politics is so much more acrimonious than British). My guess is that if the Brits here wanted to discuss Clegg and Cam (God forbid!) it probably wouldn't be a big deal but, hey.....there are SO many better things to talk about, no?
mars_hall Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 As I see it, the original topic was the unexpected banner ad when not logged in. Start agitating and you will see a lot of banner ads.

H Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 My guess is that if the Brits here wanted to discuss Clegg and Cam (God forbid!) it probably wouldn't be a big deal... I'd sooner stick pins in my eyes all afternoon. This is a guitars/music forum. On the odd occasion it has veered into politics, etc, things have generally made more than a few of us consider whether we'd want to log in again. I'd like to say thank you to Mark and the other mods here. They let things run to a point and then draw the line. Decisively.
JeffB Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Political discussion on an international guitar forum = Maple on a strat. Maple. Except at refret time when you have to pay extra for the privilege.
SouthpawGuy Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Rosewood on a "strat" for me,with bad @ss humbuckers too. And in blue to boot ! Now get off my lawn !
mark555 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 +1 ZILLION No, disagree. As a maple neck player, I wish that all those years ago I'd have bought a rosewood neck. But, at the time, it just had to be maple....

the jayce Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Yeah, people think politics and religion are "hot button" topics; No Way. You wanna talk "HOT BUTTON?!" Bring us the "Maple VS Rosewood fretboard" argument to Fender guy.... Then stand back..... rosewood all the way!!!!!!!!!! maple is to hard and twangy
schundog Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 rosewood all the way!!!!!!!!!! maple is to hard and twangy Yeah, I KNEW this "arguement" would stir the pot.... BTW, I have both, love both... But maple looks more "right" on a Fender!
Fernando Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Maple or rosewood? If I can have both, It's all good...
JeffB Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 why would we want to discuss Clegg and Cameron? Who are they?
Doug Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Love my maple-necked Ovation viper + Love my rosewood-necked Heritage 535. But I'm a bipartisan kind of guy. Also - I have noticed those banner ads just flashing on when i'm first going to the site for a split second. I wondered what's up, I did see a G-brand logo pop up there for a second and thought WTF? No real bother though.
JeffB Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Looks like I just bought another strat. With maple fret board. That makes three with maple none with rosewood. Which is the left and which is the right?
H Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Looks like I just bought another strat. With maple fret board. That makes three with maple none with rosewood. Which is the left and which is the right? Neither, both are straight down the middle
Genericmusic Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Looks like I just bought another strat. With maple fret board. That makes three with maple none with rosewood. Which is the left and which is the right? In your case I would say rosewood is left as in "left out" and maple is right as in the "right one" for you. I would also say ebony is pure anarchy.
