H-150 neck variations

Yet to own an H-150, but most of the ads I see for them describe the neck as being a 60's taper. I like beefier necks, would like something like a '58 neck that's offered by that other company. Does Heritage do a larger neck on the H-150's?

I have 3 H150s, and the necks are slightly different: my Sunburst has a slimmer neck, thicker than a G&bson thin neck, but not as beefy as a G&bson neck from the '70s, my Goldtop has a beefier neck, not as beefy as some, and my Black-and-Tan has about the same thickness as the Goldtop, but a little more meat on the sides. Having said this, my Black-and-Tan is my favorite for feel and sound, but the Sunburst puts less wear on my wrist.

I'm sure they will cut you any profile you ask for if you order a new one from the factory, as they're all handmade.

BTW, where in AZ are you at? I'm out in Peoria.

They can make the guitar to you specifications but keep in mind they are hand shaped so no two necks will be the same but they can make it very close to what you want. I have an h-150 gold top with p-90's and the neck is very much like the 50's type guitar that it is configured after. The thickness at the 12th fret is slightly over 1 inch and about .95 inches at the 1st fret and the shape is very round. I got mine used and waited until I found exactly what I was looking for. Big necks are out there, you can search for a used one or order one built to your specs.

Thanks for the info!

Didn't realize the necks were hand shaped. No CNC machines for the necks?

zguitar, your Goldtop neck sound like it's just what I'm looking for. I'd prefer a used one over a new one, don't come by to many used ones in person though.

rooster, not far away at all, Surprise. Did you find your Heritages locally or online?

They don't use CNC machines for *anything*, as far as I know, it's all built by hand and old-fashioned machinery. Heritage is old school class :)

MartyGrass had a sweet goldtop on the for sale section a couple weeks ago, but it went real fast! Most of them do on this forum, but keep looking!
