yoslate Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I had to have the guitar when I bought it and loved it dearly and was a little heart broken when it left. But the reason I let it go was due to the lack of playing time it received so it thrills me to see it out being played live as it should be. Noble sentiment! Good for you! +1
RhoadsScholar Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I was fortunate to have this guitar for a while too. It is stunning and a true representation of the art from Heitiage. The upgraded woods, the build quality. I am a pretty big dude (@6' 8"") and love the shape of the Super Eagle. I ended up going to MartyGrass too. He always seems to have an amazing collection of guitars. After a few guitar trade transactions and some cash, I ended up with a thin line semi hollow the shape of a super eagle, a 530 w/ humbuckers, and a 150 ultra, all from MartyGrass. AS much as I wanted to appreciate the craftsmanship of an all solid wood super eagle, I found that the laminate tops, being less prone to feedback, worked better in the live setting of Rockibilly, Blues, etc. The lust for a super eagle came from Scotty Moore in a lot of the early Elvis stuff with his Super 400. Having said all that, it took a few transactions, 3 of us ended up with the guitars we wanted thanks to the HOC and its Members. This is a great place to hang out (But it can get expensive)...
TonyM Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Nice Guitar, it used to be mine. I bought it new from Wolfe Guitars in 2000... I used it in big bands, combos, trios, fusion and blues gigs. Have to give ZGuitar71, RhoadsScholar, and MartyGrass a ton of credit; for all the use and time this guitar has exchanged hands I cannot find the signs of wear and tear without a looking glass. Thanks for keeping the Big Ass Blond Super Eagle alive! Guess we'll just go with BABS. (The E is silent.) Glad she's found her way to me! TonyM
