brentrocks Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 you could drive a MACK truck through there....
brentrocks Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 i watched Chris route and glue up a H 157 and a H 150 LW a couple weeks ago....there is a lot more labor involved in making a LW
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 you could drive a MACK truck through there.... Yes, but I own an semihollow 150 and YOU DONT! Now if I can just get F holes cut into the body, I will be set.
tulk1 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Can't see why not. Not like its a secret formula or anything such as HRW pups. Actually, when we asked at one of the PSPs that is exactly what we were told. Not to say you might not catch Ren or Marv in a good mood and they spill the beans. But, we have asked. Lance did a mirror test inside his LW, said it's nearly the same as that pic I posted of the Millie's innards. (edit) Was that Steiner that did the test? Just saw his pics in the thread.
Steiner Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 'Twarn't I Tulk1. Thou Looking in the control cavities and pickup holes, I'd say the two guitar innards look similar. That would make sense from a manufacturing perspective.
DetroitBlues Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Wow, didn't realize those were chambered like that! Its like a semi-hollow body without the f-holes!
MartyGrass Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Once I snuck into Heritage when it was closed to the public and made this video. It shows you exactly how they route a guitar. You can hear the boys and girl jamming on their instruments in the background while the machines do the work.
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Just spoke to Ren, he told me that the LW's are not routed out like "the other guys", but they are designed that way. So they do not take a mahogany body and just chamber it, its actually designed as a semi hollow from the start. I asked him if it is basically a semi-hollow 150 and he said, absolutely. Also asked about the tonal differences and he said you get more attack, more high end, and a more hollow woody sound than a conventional 150. I wanted to keep him on the phone longer, but you know Ren, he answers your question and then he's done. By the way, he answered on the first ring.

Sounds to me like he's confirming it's done this way ?
MartyGrass Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Here's a different shot from my guitar. I cannot confirm or refute Ren's comments on tone except it clearly is woodier. It is also very comfortable.
TalismanRich Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 It looks like the LW becomes a Mille in "Les" clothing, eh? It sounds like a good recipe to me. I love the sound of a my Mille. A really good comparison might be to take a v2 H140, a stock H150 and and H150LW and do a comparison. I'm guessing the 140 might be a bit closer to the 150 because of the lack of resonating areas inside. It still hits the goal of lighter weight.
skydog52 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 That looks just like the blank Jim showed me on the Ultra Std they are building for me.
