Whats your 535 neck like?

I was playing the semis today, first the 555, which has a medium chunky neck, then the red 535 (avatar) which has a slimmer neck, then the ACSB 535 that I got from Martygrass, which has a seriously chunky 50'ish neck. I'd like to hear from the 555/535 crowd on what type of neck they have on their semihollow. Also, is there a accurate way to measure the neck thickness? I was thinking a soft sewing type tape measure from the edge of the fretboard to the opposite edge.

My newly minted H-535 measures 2-7/8" at the nut, 3-1/8" at the 12th fret, and 3-1/4" at the 15th fret, measuring with a sewing tape from edge to edge at the fretboard.

My antique natural 535 25th anniversary, also from MartyGrass, has a 59 profile neck, chunky and comfy.

My535 23th anniversary has a chunky neck but not as full or as rounded as the 25th anniversary.

My 555 has what I’d call a medium profile.

Calipers for measuring distance from fret board to back of neck, but there are other aspects to the neck profile as well.

H555 Golden Amber (HRW's): Medium C neck profile.

H535 Goldtop (Seth Lovers): 59 Chunky profile. (My favorite!)

Both are amazing semi's. Just different feeling necks in my big left hand.

It takes me about 10 seconds to adjust to most any guitar's neck and feel, so it really isn't much of a big deal.

Me too, I can switch from the 535 to a Fender strat with a slim neck and 7.25 radius and it only takes a few seconds to adjust.

I've had four and all were different:

Almond Sunburst - Medium D shape

Antique Natural 1 - Slim C shape

Dark Almond Burst - Medium C shape

Antique Natural 2 - Slim D shape and very wide - It was around 1 23/32" at the nut.

Mine: medium "C" and very resonant! I can feel all kinds of vibration through that thing! Makes for a very intimate contact with the instrument!

too late to measure tonight,,,but I've always felt tht my 555 neck felt thick...it is a no doubt, serious git that is just so resonant and strong. Through the same amp, It will quickly overpower (full tone and volume settings) other folks when we all jam. I think it's quite bright as well (stock Schallers). It's can be a true force if you open it up. It's a bright/almost as clean in the bridge position as my USA Deluxe Strat is.

I ordered my 535 P-90 with the large 50s neck. I ordered my Custom 555 with a 1 3/4" nut width and a 50s neck (due to the wider nut width, the 555 neck is not quite as beefy as the 535, but definitely still a 50s neck carve).

I will also echo what others have stated about Ren saying that a fatter, thicker neck offers more tone. He also told me a couple of years ago that is why Heritage is moving toward thicker beefier necks.

My 535 has a slim neck. Of all the necks on my guitars, it seems to be on the slim side with the exception of one of my Strats. I seem to migrate toward the thinner necks unconsciously, like when I play, I guess I'm usually unconscious.

My 535 if memory serves me is chunkier than my 157 or 150 which are both c shaped medium with the 150 a little more chunkier than the 157 maybe. The 535 is more D shaped which may make it feel chunkier. I'd say the nut are the same though standard Heritage. I haven't measured though. They all feel good but the chunkier the better for me, better leverage or something.

My favorite neck feel of any of my electric guitars is the K'zoo LP Custom I've owned for thirty years ... just the right (for me) sense of some girth at the nut end, (I guess you'd call that a "D," although it almost has a slight "V" feel) smoothing out as the neck widens slightly towards the higher frets. When my custom-order 535 arrived, as soon as I started playing it I recognized that it had an almost identical neck carve. (maybe just the slightest bit narrower, but, hey, it should be a little different.) I've always wondered if perhaps Marv carved both? To be honest about the guitar, it took some time and a lot of adjustment tweaking to get that 535 neck stabilized and settled in where I wanted it, but from the first time I played the guitar I've loved the way the neck sits in my hand.

Mine has a more 50's type neck, which I like cause i play a lot of blues..So when I bend it gives me a bit more to hold onto..

My '09 25th Anniversary H535 has a large neck similar to late 50's era Gibson's. It's very close in size to the wide/fat neck on my '99 PRS, McCarty.

My H535 had a chunkier and wider D profile that made me sell it. After I did I miss it and I will probably get another H535. I hope the next one has a more slender and narrower C profile cause I DON'T like the D profile's big shoulders that makes it feel wider, sorta like a PRS.
