MartyGrass Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 This question is answerable. Does Heritage use unusual pots, like 1M resistance, or unusual caps with HRWs? Some of you guys have peaked.
H Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 This question is answerable. Does Heritage use unusual pots, like 1M resistance, or unusual caps with HRWs? Some of you guys have peaked. Pots and caps in my HRW-loaded 170 are the same as were in my 535 and 150 when I got them.
MartyGrass Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Well then I have no notion of why they are so chimey.

brentrocks Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 All i know is that i cant wait to get my H 157 back from Pete, because HRWs are going in that baby and its gonna sound fabulous!!!
MartyGrass Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 I did a little investigation tonight. I played a H555 with HRWs, one with SD 59s, a Millie with Seths, a Gibson Johnny A with 57s, and a H150 LW with Rio Grande BBQs. All the pickups are different but they are all more or less hollow. I played each guitar at least twice paying attention to how loud it sounded and what the tone was like. All guitars had both pups going with the pots wide open. The HRWs and BBQs were similar in volume, both being noticeably hotter than the other pups. The HRWs were out chiming the others by a large margin. None of the others stood out like the HRWs. I don't know what that secret sauce is in those HRWs, but it's real. It produces an exotic, unique tone.
tbonesullivan Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Has anyone ever taken off the cover of an HRW to see what lurks underneath? I really do need to spend more time with my Kahuna, given that it's the only HRW equipped guitar I have. Comparing it to a millie with seths and a bigsby, and an H150 with '59s should be interesting.
MartyGrass Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 They definitely are Schallers but on steroids. I can hear a hint of HRWs in the stock Schallers. I don't think you can take the covers off of HRWs without a court order. Be careful.
Bulldog Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I played a gig last Saturday using my H-575 with HRW's. Interestingly, a person with a good ear came up to me after our set and said - your guitar really does have a great chime. I'm just sayin'................. Amp, Swart AST
