535 in action

No idea where this came from. It just found its way into my facebook tonight. This was part of our set at The Pleasure Island Seafood Jazz and Blues Festival, in Wilmington, North Carolina, in October. Will (slammer) had recorded the entire set, audio, and was kind enough to go to great trouble to get me a copy, but I haven't figured out how to break that single file up, to share a little of it here. So I'm glad this popped up. I'm in at 2:30. Just a bit of my 535, straight, no chaser, with our instrumental of Van Morrison's Moondance. I solo infrequently, Terry's the show, so I'm happy to be able to share this with my Heritage pals. Hope I do that fabulous 535 justice. Thanks for watching.

I enjoyed that immensely. A fun and inspired tune... and you both made it your own.

Very nice one Rob. The 535 sounded just right... and you worked it properly.

Damn Will, would it have killed you to have hit the zoom button when Rob was playing? Just kidding Will thanks for making this happen for the elder statesman of the HOC.

Rob, Memphis is only 3 hours away from here......

yoslate, That was about as good as I expect to hear all day. Way to go. Loved every thing about it.

I wonder who took this video? The sound is great, better than what I recorded I believe. We were positioned front and center, and this is to the left side of the stage, so I am clueless as you Rob. But I did take some still shots with Marie's digital and closeups of both Rob and Terry. As soon as my procrastinating wife downloads them I will post them up on this thread. Hopefully sooner than later!

Dignified.

Tasteful.

Inventive.

Articulate.

We've come to expect no less, Rob.

I'll add melodic. I really like the way you swing with the tune when you solo.

Heh, I know that guy! I recall Will's description of this tune, the teaser at the beginning. Fun! What Lyle said - DTIA. Wonderful tone, structure, touch, and feel. And yeh, have come to expect no less.

Makes me wanna go outside and jam today. We were thinking of setting up on the patio at tonight's gig...

OH YEAH!!!! That's what I'm talking about! Nice playing Rob, and love the tone of your 535! Thanks for posting the vid. :icon_thumleft:

Nice that there was such a contrast between the first player and you - both in style and timbre. :notworthy:

As promised, here are the digital pics of Lawyers Guns and Money, featuring "our very own" Rob "Yoslate" Slater on rhythm/lead playing a Heritage 535! Along with being an outstanding player, he is quite a handsome guy isn't he? Enjoy!
