Hi after a ccouple of years without a guitar i recently had a heart attack and quadruple bypass, i decided to sell my motorbike and get a quality guitar, i went out to look at a couple of Gibsons then remembering my local guitar shop used to keep older secondhand guitars upstairs i went to see what they had in stock. As well as some nice Gibson and Fenders he showed me a Heritage and gave me a potted history. I went home to get some cash and looked up this website, pleased with what i read i rteturned to the shop tried the guitar out through a secondhand Marshall and bought them both. After reading an article in the forum i got a little worried reading about fakes , according to the identification article its a 98 the paper tag under the control panel says 150cm then acb, i presume this is antique cherry burst unless anyone can correct me my serial number feels to be printed/ painted on not stamped in , is this okay?. Also i know of another 150cm for sale but it has a number 2 stamped on to it indicating factory second, how much does this devalue it by or does that depend on the fault?. Any info on my new guitar or seconds values appreciated thanks,Dave

Hey David Smith, welcome to the HoC! Sorry to hear about the HA. But it has led you hear. Good call on going Heritage. From the pics, yours looks fine and is quite looker. Heritage fakes are rare. Not a big profile company, so not much to worry about there. Your serial number is painted on under the finish. No worries there, either.

#2 - Factory 2nd. Big devalue in cost, but rarely effects the condition of the guitar. What I mean is, the few we've seen it's hard to figure out why it's a 2nd. You can get some great buys with those. As always, check it out first.

So ... where are the pics of the Marshall? :-)

Welcome aboard davidsmith! You have come to a great bunch of people passionate about their Heritages.

That is very nice find. Factory seconds are usually only guitars with some minor finish flaw.

Hope you are feeling fine after your operation and rock that great looking guitar hard!

Hi David, welcome to the HOC from another English guitarist :) Nice 150 you have there - thanks for the pics, it saves us having to badger you for them! ;)

Where are you in the UK? We have seven or eight UK members here, mostly in the Manchester/Yorkshire area but two or three, including me, in the South East.

There's a For Sale section on this site, most items are in the US but there are occasionally guitars from Europe there too. I have an H170 for sale there at the moment (shameless, aren't I?)

Welcome to the HOC!

Nice looking H 150, but beware sometimes having one Heritage can lead to owning more than one Heritage!

Welcome aboard.

!50CM is a 150 with curly maple top. ACB is antique cherry burst, which is what a 59 LP would look like if they had used dye that wasn't prone to fading!

All indications are you've got the real thing. It has all the correct markings. I don't see a "2" so it's a first quality guitar. It sounds like you're good to go.

Looks like you got a good one. Congratulations on your Heritage! It should help improve your health.

Hello David - whereabouts in Derbyshire are you? I'm in Nottingham, so I may not be too far away. I have three Heritages, a 535, a 150 CM and a 150 Special. The Special is a "2" and the only thing I can see wrong with it is a couple of marks in the finish below the headstock, as if it was on a hanger when the lacquer wasn't quite dry. I believe seconds have cosmetic flaws, but no major structural issues - certainly my 150 Special plays very well.

If you're coming to Nottingham at any time, let me know - it would nice to say hi!

Hi Dave, nice to welcome you to the forum, I am up in Huddersfield but on the M1 side, about five minutes from J.39. Looks like you really have got a nice guitar there. I haven't seen a 150 for sale in the shops second hand for years, and I get to see quite a lot of them. Frailers at Runcorn is where you would have as good a chance as any, they have a 535 in at £1300.
