eljay Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 mahogany alsb; cream binding and pg; dots. tried for hollow traps, to no avail. curtis novak firebird vintage-wind pickups, if they will fit. nothing like treating oneself to an early Christmas present (though delivery is quite aways out). eljay
fxdx99 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Whoa - congrats, Larry. That sounds great! You've really got a stellar collection there. Cream binding... on the body, too, or on the neck?
JackBaruth Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I've never seen a bound Bird... would be very, very interesting... but regardless, CONGRATULATIONS!
eljay Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 oops; binding on neck, only. nuthin' too fancy for me . . .
FredZepp Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Sounds sweeeet ... too bad about the hollow traps. That was a cool idea. But all of these 357's are turning out to be exceptional. Congrats, can't wait to see it.
brentrocks Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 O WOW MAN!!!!! that is gona be killer!!!!
tulk1 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Time's a'getting short on ordering these, isn't it? Good go on getting one. I'd have gone traps. But ... it's not my guitar. You did ask for MoP inlay in the headstock, right? Or is that a given on the 357s? ALSB is gonna be nice! I've got the aged/creme binding on the Custom Prospect and just love it! Pearl tuners go great with that binding, btw.
High Flying Bird Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 You will love it Larry. Can you hear how slow that clock tics now.
schundog Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Congratulations, Larry! Wow, they give you ONE and you custom order 2 before the year is over!! Haha. Like everyone else, I can't wait to see how it turns out. Way to go, man!
mars_hall Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 If you get a 5-ply pickguard (w-b-w-b-w) with a 45 degree beveled edge away from the center cut, it will really set it off
bolero Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 wow, I gotta see pics of this when it`s done.....sounds killer!!
big bob Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Good job caveman. You won't be disappointed.
tulk1 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 trapz is fo' 150s! Ahhh, yes, I see that now. ..........................
DetroitBlues Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 i'm feelin the H 357 love!!!! I'm going to have to borrow yours just so I know what I'm missing... I'll have it back to you at PSP V.
DavesNotHere Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 mahogany alsb; cream binding and pg; dots. tried for hollow traps, to no avail. curtis novak firebird vintage-wind pickups, if they will fit. nothing like treating oneself to an early Christmas present (though delivery is quite aways out). eljay That sounds like it's going to be sweet. No hollow traps on a 357 or no hollow traps period? I stared specing a custom build with Wolfe's on Saturday and that is one thing on my list. It's not a deal breaker but it would be nice. I think I need to call Marv directly. There are a couple of things I'm wanting that I haven't seen on a Heritage before. A couple of things Jay was sure the answer was no and a few he thought were interesting and might be possible.
High Flying Bird Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 ...... I think I need to call Marv directly. .... a couple of things Jay was sure the answer was no... Talk to Marv not any dealer. He might not do something for Jay Wolfe but might be willing to do it for you. That's fact Jack.... Don't make me get the sewer line wrench out on you.
