schundog Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I have a cheap SHS (?) PA in the Man Cave. It's just for vocals, and it's pretty cheesy. Well, today, while I didn't upgrade the actual PA, I DID pick up a pair of, hopefully, much better speakers. I paid $100, if I remember correctly, for the PA, the 2 included speakers, speaker cables, and 2 mics. Not bad. It's been my setup for 4-5 years. My boys at the main Monster Pawn had this set of 15" Radio Shack (I know) speakers at $100 OBO on Ebay. My OBO was $60. The 'bay robot countered with $80. I went in today, offered $70 out the door, and they took it. They DO sound better than the smaller/cheaper SHS speakers, but I'm sure they will be better if/when I ever get a real PA. C'mon, a pair of really clean, non smoky carpet covered 15" speakers for $70?! I think I did OK. Now, if I could just get my vocals on pitch.... Here is one of the new speakers next to one of the old ones. http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz327/schundog/swaimshop117.jpg[/img]"]https:// Here's my Cheap PA. prettty signifigant jump up.
schundog Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 I have a cheap SHS (?!) PA down in my basement used only for vocals for jam sessions. I bought it 4-5 years ago including the PA unit, speaker cables, 2 speakers, and 2 mics for $100 if I remember correctly. It has performed adequately. This past week, Monster Pawn, where I acquired the PA, had a set of 15" carpet covered speakers from Radio Shack (I know) for $99 OBO. I offered $60 online, and the robot countered with $80. I went in today and offered $70 out the door, no tax. They took it. They are definitely an improvement, but not as much as a real PA would. Anyway, here they are. This is one of the larger speakers next to one of the older, smaller ones, next to my DRRI for comparison. http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz327/schundog/swaimshop117.jpg[/img]"]https:// Here's the cheap PA Another shot.
kbp810 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Doesn't look like a bad little simple setup, I've considered doing something similar as well; was debating between an acoustic amp and a small budget PA
schundog Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Please disregard my cheap, mass produced, PCB board KBP810 Reverb Deluxe copy in the picture.
kbp810 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I'll forgive it this time... but fender is treading on thin ice by copying my designs
