Dear all,

Sorry, no pictures just yet but I will post some if anyone is interested. I recently bought a trans black H535 and just wondered how many there might be out there - I have never seen another one in the UK. The black looks a bit blue the longer you look at it and there is nice flame under the finish. One interesting thing is the lack of a pick guard/scratchplate and it has never been fitted with one, no holes anywhere. This might not meet with everyone's approval but I junked the Schaller pickups and hardware, putting on a set of SD 59's and nickel Tonepro's bridge and tailpiece set. Not sure what cream pickup rings and gold knobs added to its looks so they have been replaced with the corresponding Gibson items in black. The 535 sounds as good as it looks, darker than my blonde 535 fitted with SD 57's and Tonepro's.

I've had three 535's previously but the two I have are spot on - have also owned 1 H140 and 3 H150's including a green H150 from 88.

Thanks in advance for comments and information.

Oh, and on ebay here in England we have a H140 with a headstock shape I have never seen - have a look at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120820197409?ssPageName=STRK:MEBOFFX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1427.l2648 I'd be grateful for any information on this as well

I have a couple of 535s myself, one with SD '59s and the P-Rails. They sound different, the P-Rails are really fat and warm sounding in full humbucker mode. Changing out the hardware is fairly common, I've had it done to a few as I'm not a Schaller hardware fan.

Pics of the harem would be most welcome.

On that 140 ...... 950 sterling for a badly done headstock repair guitar .... run far away !

That is one wally looking headstock!!! And right, about 535's! I have one with Seth Lovers and the Tonepro's hardware, might be the best guitar I've ever owned!

Saw a pic of a 555 in trans black that looked killer with a bigsby, has been on my want list for a while...your 535 surely looks just as good!!

That looks like a 140, right pickups, bridge/tailpiece.... But that headstock??? There's no way it came from the factory like that.... That's aweful....

Hi Steve, welcome to the HOC :)

I've spoken to the outfit in Wales that is selling that 140 on the previous occasions they've advertised it. It has been up for £1400 in the last six months! I believe it has had a neck break and that someone has tried to restyle the headstock in an amateurish way. I'd steer clear.

That headstock is the awfullest lookin thing ive ever seen. Scores a 2,000,000,000 out of a scale of 1-10 on ugliness. How about the sticker outline on the logo. I mean c'mmon, my seven year old son could of done a better job. I'd run from that thing.
