myway Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Hi guys, Well last week I was playing my 535. Suddenly something went horribly wrong. Upon inspection I found the high E saddle had chipped off. Threw every thing out of course. So this afternoon I set down to replace a saddle. Well I put the magnifier on and inspected the entire bridge. Long story short I am going to need a new bridge. The one currently on it I believe to possibly be a Schaller, (it says made in Germany on the bottom of it). I need to replace it but I want to get an appropriate bridge. I webnt to the Stewmac site to look but I can't see a Schaller TOM. Any thoughts suggestions? Thanks
myway Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Stewmac shows a Gotoh bridge and a Nashville TOM that appears to be close. Is the Nashville the bridge I should be looking at? Thanks
H Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Hi, take a look at the TonePros items. These are what are now standard fitment from Heritage. There's a thread here somewhere that details the part numbers for both bridge and tailpiece. A US company called Marquis Distribution will help you out - they're familiar with the fitments for various Heritage models.
Joey Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Put a Callaham on mine and love it. I can hear a noticeable difference when playing it acoustically.
mark555 Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I still have the schaller bridge and stop piece I took off my 555 when I replaced it with a more traditional style set up.The trouble is, it is in gold. I doubt that I will ever use it, but any one needing it can make me an offer.
campfire Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 +1 on the Tonepros. My 25th Anniversary faded cherry came with Tonepros locking tailpiece and bridge. Big improvement over the Shaller set-up. Better than Gibson's, too!
DetroitBlues Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Tone Pros was a perfect match for replacement. Stewmac bridges will require you to file down a notch for the strings.
myway Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 Thanks guys. I am going to look into the Tone Pros. The Callaham bridge looked great, but a bit too pricy for me. thanks
