brentrocks Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I landed my White Whale today! A 1987 Heritage H 147 It left the factory with 2 Schaller humbuckers. A middle bucker was added somewhere down the line. I really like the way it is wired! Down Position = Bridge & Middle pickup Middle Position = All 3 pickups Up Position = Neck & Middle pickup There are 3 master volumes with push/pull to split and a master tone. This Heritage is in GREAT shape for almost 25 yrs old! The original white has settled into a vintage cream. The multi ply binding really sets this guitar off. Inlaid logo on the peghead with the "mystery" inlay (only used on the H 147) anlong with black binding makes for a unique look. The neck, as you can imagine for this era, is on the thin side. Ebony board with block inlays. Black Schaller harware and black Grovers. The neck is straight as an arrow and the frets look like new. The tone is what you dial in....having 3 pickups, the skys the limit. But is does have that great H 140 bite...at almost 9 lbs, it will hold its own in the tone dept. Cosmeticly, there are a few nitro checks on the guitar and a few little dings, but overall, i would give it a 9/10....very nice for a 1987!
SouthpawGuy Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Congrats Brent, I was wondering who snagged that one. Nice shot of the harem.
FredZepp Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Very cool vintage Heritage... and that wiring should give you a bunch of rockin' tone. anything interesting on the label? ..
Hfan Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Never even heard of one. Different headstock inlay, a piece of history there. Enjoy.
Blunote Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Well, I guess "cream" is the new yellow, just like "salmon" is the new pink (think Kuz). Seriously cool and great snag.

Gitfiddler Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Brent, that is a great find, my friend. And yes, check the label and report back to your fellow inmates.
tulk1 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Bit of a fading white whale, isn't it? Strange the color it's faded to. Nice inlay on the headstock.
GuitArtMan Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Was it refretted? Those frets look HUGE!
brentrocks Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Was it refretted? Those frets look HUGE! thats what i thought too...but the nubbs are still there
schundog Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Nice find, Brent. I hadn't ever seen one of those. Rock On!
brentrocks Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Nothing special on the label.... The white plactic wasnt doing it for me...
FredZepp Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 The white plactic wasnt doing it for me... Nice...!!! . I was thinking I'd make a couple of changes to it also... I like what you've done. That is a great look.
schundog Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I dig the reflector knobs; nice "upgrade." Now that you mention it, the white washer DID look out of place, too. The black looks much better.
Steiner Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Arg! Avast ye matey. Thar she blows!!! I like the "look", cool new guitar. Congrats!
DetroitBlues Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Great find! Where did you get it? I was just asking if anyone has seen or owned a 147, and now I know someone does! Looks Awesome, congrats!
kbp810 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 That looks especially awesome standing next to your silverburst - no whale is safe with Captain Rocks at the helm of the ship!
MartyGrass Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Excellent! I actually put a bid in on that guitar. That's in great condition and is yellowing well. That's a keeper. Well done.
koula901 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 yes, i like the upgrade knobs too. looks better. congrats!
