heritagefan7 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Being a predominantly hollw/semi hollw H owner, I've been heavily into these gits---however, I'm thinking abt future purchases as well and want something better than my LP that developed a neck crack (Luthier said it was Gibby's headstock angle), was repaired but still WONT stay in tune more than a song or two!!!!!....SO been lookng at 150/157. BUT there seem to be unending versions of each--specifically whn it comes to the weight!---CM, Chambered, LW, weight relieved, and so on. Is there any sort of chart anywhere that lists this stuff?...I might just be getting lost in it when it really isn't tht complex, but any thoughts would help a poor uneducated soul. BTW, LOVE the 157 vsb--lovely git!
skydog52 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 They will make you just about any version of it. Take a look at the Millennium series to. Very versatile model also.

heritagefan7 Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Whew...does the 157 come stock w/ the wood PG while the 150 has the resin?---or is that just per each git?
DetroitBlues Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 It's all a matter of how much you want to pay. Every Heritage that is ordered is a custom guitar. If you are lucky a some of us, you can go to the factory and hand select everything for less than what a Gibson factory stock model.

Actually .. when it comes to weight.. there are only 2 options... Solid and LW ( light weight - which is chambered ) Any variation in weight other than that would just be due to the wood itself , or a thinner model like a 140 or a special.

What is the rough weight diff b/w solid and chambered? (is it like an "I need a chiropractor" difference?)
FredZepp Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 What is the rough weight diff b/w solid and chambered? (is it like an "I need a chiropractor" difference?) We've seen solid 150/157 models hit 12lbs., with the usual being perhaps 9- 11 lbs and fairly rare at 8 lbs. I'd guess the LW ones would tend to be in the 7.5 to 9 lb range. ... it probably takes a pound or more off of the weight. They aren't feather weight, but reduces it a bit and still sounds great.

Really, other than the pickups, I cannot tell the difference in sustain or anything between that one and my 11.6 lb VWB.
kbp810 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 If you are ordering one new... I wouldn't worry too much about model variation; just think about what you want your guitar to be, and then make it so That's the beauty of Heritage, they are still first and foremost a custom shop
