the jayce Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Just curious if you guys thought heritage would pull one out of retirement and build a terminator model on request. I think they made a few in 86' or around that year. I cant even find any pics on google search for them. But i have seen them and i think want one very bad. I had a couple of custom things i would want added in mind. I dont want to call them just yet untill i know if there even a chance they would make one again. I have been wanting a shredder guitar as im a child of the 80's era and played tons of it back in the day. One of those would keep my 157 great company
brentrocks Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 you want to talk to Marv marv designed the Terminator....jim designed the Exterminator good luck
the jayce Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 you want to talk to Marv marv designed the Terminator....jim designed the Exterminator good luck Thanks brent. I see you have a exterminator, are you pretty happy with it. I imagine they are realy close with the terminator in sound ect. I dont ever see the exterminators around or for sale either. Both seem to be extremely rare.

Had you not that would hav been one of those ones that haunted you forever.. I actually just called and spoke with ren a few minutes on the idea, and just set them an idea of what i was looking for on one. He ddnt give me a definate yes if they would or not but I got the ok to send the specs ad the proposal and they will review it. kind of what i had in mind for one was doing one in a flamed maple top with the translucent orange -(seen a 157 in this finish and it was just awe striking) -with the black pickgaurd, possibly bound top and headstock if it would seem to look right. Ebony frett board with mop blocks. Definate double humbucker in bridge with a nice off set single in neck position, only need one double for shreddin n' rockin and the single will be just enough to soften her up a tad for a little bluesy type flavor from time to time. I know it's a pretty good list so they may not want to get into the build but Whats your guys thouhts. I'm thinking a translucent orange to keep it some what 80's and not to traditional as the bursts ect. I think some top binding and the flamed maple top would give it a touch of class but not make it to pretty as this is a shredder guitar, it has to maintain some pazzaz and 80's metal flare! If ya know what i mean. ANY IDEAS FROM YOU FELLAS WOULD BE GREAT! I sure hope they will agree to build me one. If not my long and mind exausting search for a used one will begin .............. .
JackBaruth Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I would sure like to see that guitar when it's done!
DetroitBlues Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 My only input would be two Dimarizo Air Norton Humbuckers. Those guitars scream drop D hard rock which to me, a single coil pickup doesn't cut it.

My only reason for a single in the neck is i havnt really ever heard a really good sounding neck double just for the fact that they always sound muddy and to fuzzy for my personal liking so i figure might as well throw a single coil in the neck because thats where a single coil always out performs a double every time.... at least in my experience over the years. The only time i have a good sounding double in the neck position is when it's being run through a good wha wich can put enough highs back into it to over ride the mudiness. Now when being played clean a double sounds great in the neck. But this guitar would mainly be for all out rockin. I do have an awsome 157 i can use for the heart felt stuff if the mood calls for it however.

FredZepp Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 You've got a chance with this one.... I haven't heard of anyone asking before. And it's not a Fender styled guitar.. so maybe. Good Luck. It sounds very cool.

Not quite the same as a strat, but its a unique tone for sure that works for me. When playing something like GNR or AC/DC, I rather like to use the neck pup for certain lead licks. Santana is another that comes to mind...
the jayce Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 Neck through! BoB!!!! I hadnt thought of that but heck yes!!! That would be just awsome! If they think they will build it i am now all in on a neck through. Great suggestion my friend..

I love guitars with thier own personality, withsounds completely thier own.. Those are always the funnest to play imo.
Halowords Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Those guitars scream drop D hard rock which to me, a single coil pickup doesn't cut it. Eh, I don't know about that . . . Not mine (sadly). Color me a fan of bridge humbuckers and neck single-coils though.

Now where talkin halo!!! That thing is bad as#'ed....... I knew there where others out there that knew the secret to a great sounding neck position! The double are just a tad to much for the sweet spot! The single however was made for it..........
