Fernando Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 ...and, as you can see in the second picture from the top, early HOC members didn't use to bring their guitars to PSP, although attendance was always high... Nice pictures, Fred. Thanks.
koula901 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 neat pics, Fred. Do you recognize any of them?
kbp810 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Those are awesome Fred! Tremendous amount of history there The place sure does look a lot more humble and casual these days, still a lot of magic floating around though.
TalismanRich Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 ... so the bookkeeper guy went down to the factory and says "Where did this wood come from?" Rendal looks at him and says "Trees"!!!! Shades of PSP III!
Guest HRB853370 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 And to think, we all walked on the same hallowed ground that those builders from 1917 walked on.
the jayce Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Very cool pics. I guess what shocked me the most is that gibson was making a bazillion guitars a day back in the 30's just like they do nowadays by the looks of those photo's.
heritagefan7 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 GREAT PICS Fred--thank you! Awesome to see history and know that we get to still be a part of it today! Thanks so much--BTW/ Koula, I miss the dog!!! Cool cat though.
FredZepp Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Very cool pics. I guess what shocked me the most is that gibson was making a bazillion guitars a day back in the 30's just like they do nowadays by the looks of those photo's. Oh yeah .. they were very productive. FredZepp Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Oh yeah .. they were very productive. But it's done a bit different today...
FredZepp Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 I should note that the last couple of photos that I posted are from Gibsons modern facility in Nashville... not Heritage in Kalamazoo at Parsons Street . ( just to avoid confusion ... )
hinesarchtop Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Thanks for sharing the photos Fred. I was salivating over the figured lumber. Very cool.
Vincelewis Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Fred, Congrats on these..and hope you are well....See you in August...
schundog Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I like the one where Les Paul (the man) and Ted McCarty are looking over a Les Paul model; I can't imagine that either of them could have ever dreamed what an icon that guitar and body shape would become.
FredZepp Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 Fred, Congrats on these..and hope you are well....See you in August... I'm looking forward to it already.
jazzrat Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Great pics, thanks for posting those. I missed an opportunity...Ted McCarty was in a retirement complex here. Guess his daughter lives here. Anyway, right up until he passed away there was a constant stream of guitar nuts out there asking Ted questions and listening to stories. Regret that I never made it out. Sorry for the sidebar...back to the topic at hand.
