I am brand new and required many attempts just to get correctly registered, logged in etc. Apparently my bulb is somewhat dim. I am waitnig for the arrival of an H530 from Joe's Music in Michigan ( I am in North Carolina). It is a custom order only because of a wider neck (1.750 nut width). The finish is the older sunburst. Since I have another month or so to wait, I was wondering if there are any other goodies I should include? Maybe locking tuners or different nut material? Thanks for any input...........I may be old, but I'm slow................

Welcome Hank :) Give us some idea of the spec you've already placed and we'll add all manner of goodies to it :)

Welcome aboard. We have quite a few members from your neck of the woods.

I think the bound headstock looks great on those. The Lollar P90s are good. Maybe upgrade to RS pots and caps. The tuners are pretty solid on all my Heritages. You might go to a bone nut. Or Graphtec. The slicker the nut, the better it seems to hold tune.

Make sure you post pics when you get it.

Everything about the H530 is standard exceopt for the nut width. It has Lollar P90's, no pick guard from the factory, but a Gibson clone installed by Joe's Music. The finish is old style sunburst. The pick up covers are black. Hardware is all chrome. I don't know much about the electronics, just standard..............thanks........

Welcome aboard. Joe is a great guy and I believe one of the first Heritage dealers in Michigan. I bought a Gibson amp from him last year and he shipped it to Georgia. Tell him "Will" said hello.

Welcome to the HOC, Hank. I'm just up the road from you, in Greensboro. Great forum, here, with a bunch of great people from all over the place. Now's the time; get that 530 just the way you want it. You will not be disappointed!

I will Will. I bought a Reverend Pete Anderson from him and it was great and so was the deal.

Thanks yoslate. Hey, just in case you are a Tar Heel fan they are on tonight at 7 on espnu........

Hey Hank, welcome to the HOC. As suggested, order what you really want up front. Afterwards can be expensive and involve the risks of shipping back n forth to Kalamazoo.

I dig my 530 for the unique tones both amplified and acoustic. If I had made a custom order, I'd have spec'd out a bound headstock and mini-block inlays. The wider nut and guard are excellent ideas for your personal touch.

Now we all can't wait to see your baby!

The waiting is the hardest part... but always well worth it in the end!

Welcome to the HOC, and very much looking forward to seeing the finished product

Locking tuners sure do make changing strings quick and easy... but aside from that, I've found no added benefits in regards to tuning and/or staying tuned. I used Sperzels (locking) on a parts-caster build and love them - and I have Grovers (non-locking) on my 157, and I love them too. If I broke strings more often I'd probably lean more towards locking, but alas I do not, so for the occasional worn string changes I could just as well live without them.

Thanks for the welcomes................waiting sucks...........I am fortunate to have my G6122-1959 Chet Adkins CG to keep me company....................

Welcome aboard Hank, a 530 is truly nice. My contribution would be abelone heritage logo on the headstock as opposed to screen printed.

Welcome aboard and nice choice for a new guitar. It's worth the wait.

'09 H530/555 Translucent Cherryburst

I had mine built like a H-555 and love it. Nice sounding guitar.
