A ran across a guy in Atl selling an H550 (Atlanta Discount Music & nice guy) for $1300...that sounded like a great deal so I asked some questions---It's got a few nicks and dings, but he said it plays well--he emailed me some pics--and included in he email that there was no serial # on it!---He sent a pic of the label inside but it is too blurry to read---some of the other pics were blurry too---Does NO seriel # seem odd to anyone? I've never seen a Heritage w/o a serial number!...btw. sorry abt the seriel # spelling--been working the yard today & I'm a bit....whipped!

no serial # and fuzzy pics doesen't exactly make one feel warm and fuzzy...

I kind'a felt the same way...It's supposedly a reputable store---made me wonder.

Perhaps a refinish on the headstock???

Atlanta discount is a Heritage dealer and is one of the best shops in Atlanta. A local HOC member could check it out for you. I was in that area with Will on Friday.

They're quoting $1300 shipped. Seems like a good price if the git is in good shape. Here's the issues:---There is a fair sized nick/dig in the neck. a few nicks on the body (per sales person)...No serial #...and I can't read the label photo......I seem to have a bit of a mystery on my hands here. In add'n, there is one screw in the pup ring on each side, so I'm guessing the pups are not schallers--(If I rem tht correctly)...Can the neck be repaired (finish chip)...How old is this lovely tone machine?...What pickups are in there b/c I was considering replacing them w/ Fralin p92s or Lollar humbucker to single coil pickups. On the other side, another dealer is quoting me $2885 for a custom 550 order w/o the p90 change....$1300 is looking good if she works at all!-----Man, why didn't I just stick with percussion????---I can't wait to get rid of this GAS and get back to just commenting/chiming in on OTHER PEOPLE'S STUFF!!!!!

You need a good pic of the ding in the neck and of the label... or maybe someone in Atlanta can check it out. .. any returns if you don't like it? ...

Maybe talk to them... let them reassure you...
