Iamcmac08 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Inherited an H-535 Roy Clark from my grandfather. This is my first Heritage. I must say I'm very very impressed by the quality of this instrument.
Iamcmac08 Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 After a little research, it is a 1994 Almond Sunburst.
Steiner Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Your Grandfather was, obviously, a man of quality and taste; RIP. Welcome aboard Iamcmac08! Beautiful guitar!
fxdx99 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Sorry for your loss, but it's nice to hear you had music as a common interest w/you g'pa. He's obviously a guitarist with as that's a very fine looking instrument. Enjoy it! And welcome to the HOC. What's the guitar in your avatar? Looks like you're playing thru a marshall-like combo of some sort... what kind of music?
DetroitBlues Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Sorry for you loss, and congratulations on owning a fine instrument. Welcome to the HOC!
GuitArtMan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Sorry for your loss. Your Grandfather was obviously a man of taste. Welcome aboard.
Iamcmac08 Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 I suppose I should have previewed my post and had better word usage.. My grandfather is alive and well. It was just given to me because he doesn't play electric guitar. Sorry for the confusion.

Looks like you're playing thru a marshall-like combo of some sort... what kind of music? It's a Sozo LZR. A smaller company that is producing very high quality affordable guitars. I'm playing through a Line 6 Flextone III, which sounds amazing paired with the 535. The picture was taken as a artist promo for Sozo. I play blues, r&b, and classic rock primarily. The 535 is the most versatile guitar I've ever played.
brentrocks Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Welcome to the HOC!!! Beautiful guitar!!! Your grandpa had great taste!
kidsmoke Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 wow! Beautiful, and sounds like it's made it's way to very capable hands. To the faithful....how common is a single-cut 535??
H Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Eighteen years' worth of Heritage goodness right there Welcome to the HOC from the other side of the Atlantic!
Iamcmac08 Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 Thank you everyone! I'm very excited to be introduced to Heritage. My next goal is an H150. Anyone know the approximate price range I'll be looking at?

Iamcmac08 Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 $1200-1400 for a used one depending on condition and appointments Let the saving begin! I really like the Les Paul body style. How do they sound/play compared to the 535?
big bob Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 That is not a 535, it's a Roy Clark. the roy clark 535 is different. The old (what you have) Roy Clark signature model is much more rare and cool.
blueox Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Congratulations for gaining the Heritage Roy Clark. That's a great way to be introduced to the brand.

I just began researching this guitar a few days ago so I thought I'd get on here and get some insight.
Iamcmac08 Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 Congratulations for gaining the Heritage Roy Clark. That's a great way to be introduced to the brand. Thank you! After being a long time Fender fanboy, needless to say my eyes have been opened. I was never really impressed with anything Gibson put out unless you shelled out a ton of money. But I am very impressed by Heritage.

mars_hall Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 FWIW, there should be a label you can see through the f-hole stating how it was originally equipped.
heritagefan7 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Sorry for you loss, and congratulations on owning a fine instrument. Welcome to the HOC! Condolences and best wishes...Surely hope that you enjoy the legacy that your grandfather left you.
FredZepp Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 It's great that your grandpa is still alive, so you can learn a tune that he'll like and play it for him on that awesome Heritage.
dblazer Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I was going to say that the neck is more like the one on the 555, but here you go: http://www.heritageguitar.com/models/royclark.html
TalismanRich Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Welcome to the group. Your grandpa has very good taste in guitars. Make him proud by playing the daylights out of it! The Roy Clark is slightly different from the 535/555 in that the center block is only attached to the top, not the back. They usually come with 555 type appointments (bound headstock, block inlays, gold hardware), but yours has the added split block inlays. I think the body is also slightly bigger than the 535. You don't see a lot of them, that's for sure. Look inside at the label to see if it has HRW pickups. That would be a plus. There is another Roy Clark Hall of Fame model that is a double cutaway like the 535. Only 25 of those were made. Here's one that is for sale at a shop local to me. http://www.stringinstruments.com/p-1349-heritage-h-535-roy-clark-hall-of-fame-model.aspx In any case, you've got a really sweet guitar there! Congrats (and make sure you tell grandpa thanks!)
