schundog Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I decided to take a few pictures of some of the massive amp collection my buddy Ed at Monster Pawn has acquired over the years. This is maybe 10% of what he has lining the upper shelves of his shop; He also has many vintage Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Supro, etc amps up there. He says, half jokingly, that it is his retirement plan. I can think of a lot less fun ways to invest! Anyway, here's some eye candy of some of the wierd heads he has up there. http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz327/schundog/oldampheads001.jpg[/img]"]http://
schundog Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 More... There are several different Kustom amps here, they aren't all the same amp. EDIT: Oops, I think the first two pictures ARE the same amp.. Sorry! https://

DetroitBlues Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 This is really cool. Have you tried any of them out?
Genericmusic Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I do remember the Knight Amps. A band I played in used one for a PA head back in the mid-60's. If I remember correctly they were a kit amp (build your own) pretty much like Heath Kits.
yoslate Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I have an amp guru pal who's made his life's work, well a lot of it anyway, turning those old MASCO PA amps into killer guitar amps.
barrymclark Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I love the rack mount on that crate!! That is actually where the Crate name comes from! That is truly an old school Crate amp.
smurph1 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Great Stuff!! Back in the early 70's a friend had a Kustom Stack that would just blow the hair off your head..And we had a lot of hair in those days!! LOL
bolero Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I'd take that Ampeg over anything else....one of the best guitar sounds I ever got was a les paul into a cranked V4B into a marshall 4x12....glory hallelujah! they are also great bass amps
Gitfiddler Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Another Ampeg fan here. Yep, I think that amp could smoke many of the new ones these days. Hey, have you asked him about selling some of the old tubes lurking inside of thos old beasts?
