Keith7940236 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I have been saving my money for a new 575 but now have an opportunity to purchase a '92 Eagle TLC. I know very little about this particular style It's carved mohagany with I believe 2.5" rims. I was hoping that somone could give me a little insight about this particular guitar Where I live there are virtually no heritages available to sample so I have to purchase it on line. I am considering the 575 becuase of what I have read about them. I could save about $1000.00 by purchasing the used Eagle TLC. I think that I am particularly concerned with is if I can get a nice jazz tone out of the thinner bodied guitar. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keith
Keith7940236 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Sorry, I meant TDC, it's been a long day..........................
campfire Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I have a Golden Eagle thinline (maple body/spruce top) and it gets a great jazz sound. I really don't miss the extra rim depth, and it makes playing so much easier for an uh...gracefully aging, shall we say..."portly" gentleman.
MartyGrass Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 The thinline Eagles are 2.25" deep. Some have spruce tops and some have mahogany. You should get a really nice sound from it, warmer than a 575. Some folks prefer the brightness of maple though. Consider that the Eagle is not as deep but is wider than a 575. Also, there's a thinline Eagle on the market that's a factory 2nd. It should be discounted appropriately.
