pegleg32 Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 I would own no (0) Heritages if there was no HOC. When I first came across a 535 and did my research I ended up here. The guys sold me on giving it a try. I would not have purchased it based on anything else I found on the web. I have since sold that 535 and bot my matched set 150/535 new, and my Goldtop 150 from Brent.
Gitfiddler Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 For me, it's a case of 2 and 2 + 1. I got my first Heritage, the 157 in 2003. The 535 came a few years later, right around the time I found the HOC in 2008. I was looking at the semi hollows but not because of the HOC. Brent had the Mille LE, and I had been looking for a 140 for a while. It just took time to find the right one at the right price, but it didn't come from an HOC member. Then there's the amp... I would never have known about Heritage amps if it wasn't for the forums. +1 Heritage Amplification products are simply amazing! Another wonderful expense thanks to the HOC...
tulk1 Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 I had an H157 before finding the HoC. When I joined there were a whopping 127 of us. You could post and wait for a couple of days before an answer arrived. So ... 2005 157 Pre-HoC Then: 2001 Millie 2005 H535 2007 Millie DC NFH 2009 Prospect Custom 2010 H555 Custom PSP 1991 H40 Mandolin And one on the way
212Mavguy Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I remember a similar thread from a while back, so I copied and pasted my post from there to this thread... I can't remember how I got wind of Heritage guitars, but my first was a 555 antique natural that I won on an eBay auction about 3-4 years ago for 1200-ish dollars. It arrived in "9" condition at least. Since then I have purchased two Millies, a 2000 limited edition ultra, (#11) and a one of a kind custom order guitar from a heritage dealer, he sold it to put some money into his next custom build. Two xmas's ago, a Gretsch-y looking h516 arrived, and most recently, the 576 mentioned in my very recent thread about "Don't look at guitars on eBay after drinking." All have been stellar values, all have their own, absolutely wonderful tones. Could not be happier, so proud to own a few from the folks at K'zoo! Camera's busted, so please don't razz about no pics. I apologize for that, but I don't have to apologize to anyone about how my Heritage guitars look and especially sound on stage... One of my buddies told me that he noticed that Heritages on average tend to look better on on eBay's auctions than G brand gits of the same type do, as if Heritage owners tended to take better care of their instruments than the G owners do. I think he's right, as if there's tendency to more owner's pride in a guitar built with more care and pride. The HOC effect is real...it has a GAS inducing component. Also one of the nicer behaved forums anywhere, a change for the better that took place within the last two years. Thanks to everyone here!
Dick Seacup Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 For me this is a "chicken and egg" question. I'll go with "all of them".
brentrocks Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I woud say all of them....but i bought 3 pre-HOC Green H 157 Clown burst H 140 X 2
Trouble Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I've only got the one OSB 150, it has definately become my holy grail. I bought it off ebay from a guy that was apparently in a bind, he was very honest about everything and it was a great transaction, also it was the first guitar I ever bought sight unseen. My buying it and joining the forum was almost simultaneous, I'm not sure if I had the guitar first or not. There will be more, since owning this 150 there is really no other guitar I would be interested in, I just want another one like it. Or maybe a few like it with some slightly different tonal options, p90's, mini hums, maybe one with a JB at the bridge and seth or jazz at the neck, one with alnico 2 pro's, one with...
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 +1 Heritage Amplification products are simply amazing! Another wonderful expense thanks to the HOC... Yes, but they bear no relationship to the Heritage Guitar Company!!

Also-are those custom truss rod covers?
FredZepp Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I found the HOC while trying to research a H-150CM that was on craigslist... I bought the guitar and was amazed at the quality of the instrument. So the HOC is at least partially responsible for my buying the first one... I'll blame all of the Heritages that I bought afterward on the HOC gas inducing forum ...
JeffB Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Yes, but they bear no relationship to the Heritage Guitar Company!! I found out about Heritage amps by following a link on Heritage guitars old website. Also, I think the original Amps and Effects forum here at the HOC was sort of set up to discuss Heritage amps.....I think....not sure
JeffB Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I'll blame all of the Heritages that I bought afterward on the HOC gas inducing forum ... Immediate reaction: Sharp inhale, pause, slow exhale
TalismanRich Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Yes, but they bear no relationship to the Heritage Guitar Company!! Thats not entirely true. Lane Zastrow was connected to the marketing of both companies at the same time.
DetroitBlues Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I think we should get KBP to bring back the Heritage amp line....
smokedtires Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Holy Moly Jack!! 1.22 Heritages per month. Confessions of a true Heritage afficionado! I think you have outdone Brently. Haha, I was thinkning the same thing! Had my H140 pre HOC. Just sold 2 cheap guitars and picked up a Godin which is as nice as my Heritage.
killerblues Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Lunching with Spectrum13 today, and we were conversing about the impact that the HOC has has over the years on sales of Heritage guitars (both new and pre-owned). So we decided that it was only right to poll the members about how many Heritages they would have if the HOC never existed and how many Heritages they now own as a direct result of being a forum member. In my case: 1 Heritage pre-forum 6 Heritages post-forum Therefore, the forum is responsible for me acquiring 6 additional Heritages. At an average price of $1,500 each, I could be $9,000 wealthier if I had never joined the HOC! HOC will be directly responsible for me pulling the trigger on a 357. If I hang around long enough looking at all of these beautiful guitars I'll go broke!
tsp17 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 1 pre-HOC, but that one led me to HOC 1 post-HOC
BrianToth Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I have to honestly say none. I bought an H-575 many years ago when I was looking for a really nice arch top that wouldn't break the bank. I got in iterested in a Prospect after seeing all the Blues deluxes on Ed Roman's old site, but didn't buy one until 2006. I played Henry Johnson's Sweet 16 when I was taking lessons from him and got my own sometime after that. Bought an H-137 specifically for a gig where I needed a P-90 guitar. The gig went away and I sold the guitar to Brent (surprise!) Currently have the Prospect and the Sweet 16. When I win the lottery I'd like a Korina H-137, a 575 made with an oval sound hole like my old Epiphone Howard Roberts, a thin body 575 tricked out like a Country Gentleman with TV Jones pickups and a Bigsby, and another Prospect with a full block in it. Like I said, when I win the lottery.

BrianToth Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Look at this, a charter member who I have never seen post before!!!! I have a few here and there. Now if I can get a pic to upload for an avatar I'll be golden.
Spectrum13 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Will, He posted his custom prospect and thinline 16 plenty on this forum and a few others. He likes the 92 pups.
rjmajik Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I purchased one prior to joining the HOC, right after I went on the Factory Tour and met Ren and a couple others. I have one that will arrive from JB next week! Can't wait.
