Niles Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I have a 1995 575 that I purchased used and I am contemplating a pickup swap. I recently bought a SD Seth Lover neck and a 59 bridge. Doing this on an arch top is a royal pain and I am wondering if the difference will be night and day or subtle. I had the Seth in a solid body once and it sounded good. I am assuming that the original pickups were made by Schaller as they have the tilt screws.
DetroitBlues Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Most likely you have Schallers... The difference all depends on your ears and what sounds best. I think that pickup combination will give you some sweet rock tones, but I'm certain many other genres are possible too. Since those full hollow body guitars have no cavity access, that's a major job to swap pickups. I'd almost suggest having a luthier do the work, but that's your call.
Gitfiddler Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I just dropped a Seth in the neck of my 575 Blueburst and it sounds fantastic...warm, creamy, thick n jazzy. It had a 59 in the bridge that worked very well to balance out the two p'ups...but installed a SD Jazz in the bridge spot just because I had a new one in the parts drawer that I wanted to check out. It is very clear and responsive to raising/lowering it to get a proper balance. If you have the Seth and 59 on hand, I'd recommend going for it in your 575. Let us know what you decide...and good luck.
