hi there!

I'm new here, I'm fra from italy. I've bought a wonderful H-535 and I love it! (her?)

on this pages I found out that the guitar: is "born" the 1st of may, 6th guitar of the day, 1990

it's my first semi-hollow: I've always played solid body guitars, mostly strats, but I also have a nice "cousin": a gibson les paul custom. so, can I ask a couple of questions? remember: I'm new and my english sucks, so... be patient, please! ;-)

- pick ups: what brand are they? shaller, like the hardware? they have 2 screws: you can balance both coils of the humbucker? how can I set them? any tips? do you know the output of these p'ups?

- the headstock: I know there's a word for it, but google is not helping. I thought that the neck was made with a single piece of wood, but the headstock seems made with 3 layers of wood. is it correct or someone repaired it? I'd doubt so, since there's the serial number printed on the back, but I'm curious nonetheless

- label: there's a small label on the inside of the guitar, with the model and three letters: ACB. what does these means?!?

thanks in advance! :-)

Most likely you have Schaller Golden 50's pickups. However, if you remove them and look on the back, you'll know for sure. If they say HRW, then you have a custom rewound set of Schaller's by Heritage's Ren Wall. Congrats and welcome to the forum!

Oh, and....

this thread is useless without pichers.jpg

Welcome, strat! 535's are incredible guitars, molto buono! About your questions:

The two screws in the pickup bezel are to allow you to adjust pickup height and to tilt the pickup to keep it parallel to the plane of the strings, in various guitars. The best way to adjust them is to raise or lower them, with the guitar plugged into an amplifier, until they sound good to you, and are balanced in their output, relative to each other. Remember not to get them too close to the strings because their magnetic pull can affect the guitar's tuning.

Golden 50's are a medium-high output pickup, similar to many PAF clones. They tend to emphasize mids and highs. They use an AlNiCo V magnet, and they are potted.

The "three-piece" headstock is normal, not a repair. The two outer pieces are "wings" which complete the headstock shape.

"ACB" refers to the color of your guitar, which would be Antique Cherry Burst.

thank you all! :-)

I bought it saturday, so I've only another cheap iphone pic, sorry! (had to think about the meaning of "pichers"!)

I know how the screws work on p'ups, it's just that I'm used to one screw per side: I was wondering why this beauty has two! so far the the guitar didn't need any special tweakings: new strings (11s) and checked the octaves on the bridge (the "rolling saddles" are quite a problem: they move to easily!)

and that colour... I love it! it's hard to find such a "serious" guitar in such a stupid colour! :-D

Welcome to the HOC from another European member :)

I have family in the Varese area - where are you in Italy?
