big bob Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 you could put in a mini hum. or a p-90 sized hum
koula901 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I think the only hum you can fit in a guitar routed for dog ear would be a mini hum. Anything bigger would require routing a bigger hole.
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 What if they're dog ear P90s? Clip their ears?
yoslate Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Clip their ears? Wouldn't that make the p'up a doberman?

SouthpawGuy Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Can this be done without harming the guitar? Humbuckers because of the power / tone or because they're hum cancelling ? I have Fralin noise free P-90s in my 137, sounds great for rock, blues and even jazz on the neck pickup. Great pickups, they're actually humbuckers, as are most noise free single coils. There are lots of P-90 size pickups available now that are noise free and sound like P-90s, and some that lean more towards humbucker tones. Manlius pickups make a noise free P-90, the Quiet Goat. Vintage Vibe pickups also make models that are not on their website, for an example a humbucking G&L MFD replacement pickup, might be worth contacting some of those guys.
