HI ,

I am new to the forums and I am close to buying a Heritage guitar but I have a few question I hope people can help with. I read somewhere in these forums that the "HRW" pickups are no longer available, is tha that true? If so, can I still order the "DOUBLE VAR-I-PHASE CONTROLS" , which the "Custom shop" says go best with the HRWs? Begs the question, if HRWs are no loner avaialbe what pickups works best with the D-VIP setup? Does anyone have this setup? If so, do you like the D-VIP ? Any comments?

And finally, ( please forgive my complete ignorance) what is the difference in sound, tonal quality between a H-150 and a Millenium DC (assuming both had the same pickups( and possibly D-VIP))?

Thanks in advance, David

welcome, david! i don't know about the vip system. the h150 is solid while the millie is semi-hollow (but some guys have 'em without f-holes), so there will be some tonal differences. glad you found the HOC. eljay

Welcome aboard David.

Here is a demo from wolfe with a Milli DC

HRWs are hard to come by. Any 4 wire pickup will work with D-VIP. Just have to find your tone. A lot of choices now.

A link to D-VIP instructions..

The VIP system was also used with Schaller pickups, of which HRWs are a modified version. My '86 H170 had VIP with Schallers. They have also used VIP with Duncans, my VIP2 from '86 had a pair of JBs originally. Not sure if that is of any help to the op.

I don't believe you can order HRWs anymore. And there's something about them that makes it very difficult to clone them, but I can't explain why that is. The fact is, they are not easy to find.
