schundog Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I got up bright and early this morning, loaded up my Traynor YCV40 amp and my Epipone Wine Red Dot Deluxe, and headed for South Bend, Indiana. Three hours later, I met up with Detroit Blues and KBP810 to trade those items for DB's 1991 HFT445 Acoustic. He'd expressed interest in both items, which I obviously had, and I had wanted a Heritage acoustic for some time. We hooked up on this cold, sunny, snowy morning, exchanged pleasantries and equipment, and both turned around and went home! Yeah, it would have been great to go somewhere and plug in for awhile, or chat over lunch, but it turned out to be a long day for all of us! She's been well loved since 1991; bumps, bruises, and some great nitro checking going on. I'll need to replace the trussrod cover (I'M not DetroitBlues) and I'll probably get a pickguard; Holy Cow, this is the 8th used Heritage I've purchased, and NONE of them have come with a pickguard!! I don't mind on the electrics, but this one obviously had one for a long time, as there is a much lighter color where it used to be. No biggie, but I had to laugh at the fact that none of my Heritages have come with a pickguard. It sounds, looks, and feels great. I had tried this guitar at PSPIV when KBP owned it, and had lusted for it since then. I'm looking forward to getting to know her better. See you at the bridge! skydog52 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Welcome to the club Brian. You will enjoy this one! Play some Melissa tonight.
bolero Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 nice!! congratulations...I love older guitars that have some good, honest wear & tear
Gitfiddler Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Good deal for all concerned. That acoustic has tons of mojo!
DetroitBlues Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 The original TRC is in the case.... Electronics work really well. Its a undersaddle piezo, but to use it right, you'll need a good preamp.
chico Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 check w Ren, there may be a pickguard still around at parsons st. if you think that is beat up, you should see mine! but the tone is to die for, I wouldn't get rid of mine for anything. just this morning I was working out "MAKE IT WITH YOU" the Bread song. it sounds great on it.. well done Brian.
kbp810 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Welcome to the Acoustic club Brian! This is a beautiful sounding guitar, I am sure you will enjoy her immensely
FredZepp Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Ahhh... so that was the deal. Congrats, that seems like one that you will enjoy a lot ! I predict that you'll get a lot of use out of it this summer....
DetroitBlues Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Schundog caught me at a good time for sure. I was looking at the 445 case the other day thinking that will all the band stuff I've been doing lately, the 445 is just collecting dust in the corner. Schundog's passion about that guitar and willingness to do what it takes to get it, only proved to me how much someone else would greatly appreciate such a fine instrument. Its no closet queen, but its beautiful to listen to and play. A great guitar to be heard on the bridge at PSP for sure. Congrats Brian, I hope you get many years of songs out of her.
fxdx99 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Cool! Congrats to you both on NGD (and NAD). Another HOC transaction done good.
big bob Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 That is a nice player. I wonder witch lunk head took off the pick guard, it had one when I owned it. You will be pleased with this one .
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 That is a nice player. I wonder witch lunk head took off the pick guard, it had one when I owned it. You will be pleased with this one . Allright, a fourth owner has surfaced!!
DetroitBlues Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 That is a nice player. I wonder witch lunk head took off the pick guard, it had one when I owned it. You will be pleased with this one . The pickguard that was on it was not sitting flat, it was bubbled up and peeling off....
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 The pickguard that was on it was not sitting flat, it was bubbled up and peeling off.... Perhaps it had been left in a hot car on a 90 degree day?
Hfan Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 That is a nice player. I wonder witch lunk head took off the pick guard, it had one when I owned it. You will be pleased with this one . Calling all lunkheads... Congrats Brian, use her in good health. Glad to see it stays in the family here. They are too few and far in between to disappear from view. Didn't know it had a pick up.
DetroitBlues Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Perhaps it had been left in a hot car on a 90 degree day? Not in my car... But to someone who braggs about going to the beach frequently might be guilty...
koula901 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Congrats to both of you!! Brian - that's a beatiful-sounding accoustic, never let it go! Detroit - you're pretty brave to let go of something you're not using much. My 535 doesn't get much use, and yet, it's such a fine instrument, I can't let it go.
koula901 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Detroit - btw, congrats on the red dot and your new amp!
schundog Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 Here's a clip with my Samson USB mic pointed at the 12th fret, straight into the laptop into audacity. I spared you all the singing on this one! haha. ALMOST made it all the way through without screwing up too bad, too, dang! http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11437622&q=hi
Steiner Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 AH! Creative solutions for both teams; I like that. Blues - you gained and lost your bridge pass between PSPs. Tsk, tsk, tsk... It appears you dealt into a fab amp & guitar combo. SchunDog has done well finding Another pickguardless Heritage. What are the odds!??? Perhaps a subliminal prerequisite. Nice horse trade in any event. Congratulations are in order.
