212Mavguy Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I didn't really have any intention of picking up any more guitars, especially non- Heritage, but I saw this and couldn't resist the temptation. The price was unreal for the build features. Then I thought about the weekly jam seshes at one of the local watering holes and the fact that I don't let others play any of my nitro finished Heritage ladies in that setting. I realized that this would be the perfect, sexy, "bar beater bitch." http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1439.l2649 So in an act of cruelty towards the seller, I staked her to the auction block with an opening bid of 385 with three days to go so that the seller could not pull the auction at two days left if no bids. This is in complete contrast to my lurking and last second sniping technique I have necessarily and successfully employed hundreds of times in the past to successfully amass my plentiful collection of vintage tubes for my amp stable. She finished her turn on the block with no competetition so I got her at the screaming deal of the opening bid. She arrived yesterday, she was a bit cold as I took her out of her massive shipping box, but I figgered that she would have a poly finish that wouldn't crack, and I was right. Let her sit on the guitar stand for a half hour, fondled her grovers, plugged 'er into my Frank-en-Champ and wooooooeeee!!! her voice had the LP/H150-ish tones and sustain in spades! SD PU for the bridge, Yamaha alnico for the neck, hot like the t-tops on my vintage Gibby solid walnut The Paul. Fit and finish were absolutely superb. The bookmatched top was amazing in the light. The what looks to be wood binding around the top was tasteful and well done. Simply the nicest example of (Korean, REALLY!) so called craftsmanship that I have ever seen. I was shocked! Medium jumbo fretwork was well done, graphtech-y looking nut allowed smooth tuning with no sticking or popping, truss rod adjustment and other elements of factory setup were right on, intonation was pretty damn close to perfect. Upper fret access was wonderful. The plastic cover over the control cavity cover was still intact, one small scratch on the back, no biggie. Neck was very comfy and fast, 24 3/4 scale. Found out later in another auction description by a more informed seller that this model was an editor's pick of Guitar Player and Guitar One magazines in the past. Am happy with the value for what I got. What a pleasant surprise!
JeffB Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Cool guitar. Ive always had a soft spot for Yamaha products.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Nice guitar, Yamaha make some really great guitars and music gear.
koula901 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I've seen some interesting lefty Korean guitars that I was impressed with, for *very* cheap.
pegleg32 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 That stop tail is unusual. Haven't seen one like that before. Overall a very nice looking guitar.

I am not sure what exactly you mean.
