Blunote Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Get your minds out of the gutter! I meant these: They appear to be the same speakers as the one in my KBP810 Reverb Deluxe. Mine was reconed before I bought it with a Jensen P12N kit that included the voice coil. While I'm not sure how it sounds as originally configured in the 60s, the frankenspeaker in my amp sounds fantastic Lots of punch & chimey with that classic "blowing across the top of a coke bottle" sound in the middle, and an airy top end as you'd expect from the AlNiCo magnet. When I bought the KBP810 Reverb Deluxe, I hadn't had the opportunity to listen to it with a more mainstream speaker and wondered for a while whether I was really getting the best sound I that amp was able to give me with this creature inside. And while I've always believed in the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", for some reason, that wisdom gets chucked out the door when I comes to guitars and amps. So, I bought a double throw down Weber Alnico 12" speaker and swapped her in. I also tried a ceramic magnet speaker more along the lines of a Celestion V30. They sounded great...but didn't quite tickle me like the way frankenspeaker did. So, I put frankenspeaker back in the Reverb Deluxe and sold the fancy Weber to a forum member. The ones pictured here are for sale on ebay for around $45. I'm not sure if they're 16 or 8 ohms but I may buy them for a future cab project. Anyone else stumbled across hidden treasures like this?
bolero Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I have an old anlico speaker from a Bell & Howell projector in a '62 GA8 that sounds fantastic what kind of speakers are those?
Blunote Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Sorry, I fogot to include that. They're Carbonneau's. The ones above were pulled from a Wurlitzer organ. They're 1960s vintage.
