Pickup Identification

As I posted yesterday, I just received my first Heritage (Eagle TDC), which also happens to be my first electric guitar. Short of removing them, is there a way to identify which pickups are installed? I was made in 1992. Can they be identified by the age of the guitar? I'm afraid that I'm on a steep learning curve for the forseeable future. I appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Keith

Hi, the double adjustment screws each side of the pickup are a very strong suggestion of Schaller pickups. These were the standard fitment on Heritage guitars until very recently.

What is uncertain is whether these are the 'standard' Golden 50s, a PAF type, or HRWs, a Heritage-reworked Schaller pickup with different characteristics to the Golden 50. These are rare and highly prized.

You'll need to look at the underside of the pickups to determine exactly what they are.

The double screws means it's probably Schallers. If they were HRWs, there would most likely be a dot on the top of the toggle.

Also, upgraded pickups are usually noted on the sticker inside the f hole. Does the label have anything on it other than serial number and color?

Thanks for the feedback. The label says nothing about any special pickups and there is no marking on the toggle. I appreciate you getting back to me.

Were they making HRW pickups back in 1992? I would put my money on Schaller Golden 50s, which are great pickups.

Could be wrong but I thought HRWs were introduced in the early '00s ?

None of my Heritages have their original pickups - don't trust the label, trust your eyes :)
