rookie Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Hi, Could those of you who ordered a guitar recently share what was their order to delivery time? I have been waiting for over 4 months for a guitar now... I was quoted a 3-month time delay when ordering but we are well past that now and I am running out of patience... Thanks Rookie
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Normal is 9 months to a year. Consider yourself lucky if you get a 4 month turnaround.
kbp810 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 There are quite a few potential variables involved that can come into play so it can be hard to gauge properly- I believe mine took a little over 4 months as well. Have you touched base with your dealer to see if an update is available? I know in my case it felt like it was taking forever... but when I got that call it all felt like it went by in the blink of an eye Hang in there! It will be well worth the wait!
golferwave Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I've had two custom orders from Heritage. One took 7 Months and the other took 4 Months. Hang in there, it's worth the wait.
DetroitBlues Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 When finishing a guitar in Nitro, you really want it to cure as much as possible. Poly finishes are quick and easy, they can be completed in a matter of a couple days. To properly finish a guitar in Nitro, that's a long process. Don't sweat it. When I had just the top refinished on my 140, it took the guy 5 months.... That was just the top!!! http://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=02bebae0b7d110e7&page=view&resid=2BEBAE0B7D110E7%21129&type=3&Bpub=SDX.Docs&Bsrc=Docmail&parid=2BEBAE0B7D110E7%21128&authkey=%2avAH71DK%21Mw%24
blueox Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 It has been said before in similar situations, but just know that it will be done right and worth waiting for. You will end up with an uncommon guitar built to your specs. Just be sure to have a camera handy so that we can all celebrate your instrument's arrival.

Much more durable.

Thanks Rookie There is one HOC member who is going on 14 months for an archtop. But his is pretty special with the features he ordered.
Spectrum13 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Three months to over a year. Depends on what you order, their supply chain and available lumber and if something has to be redone.
yoslate Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Thirteen months for mine. Worth every minute....
Gitfiddler Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Rookie~ Did your dealer give you the 3 month build time or did you get that from Heritage? It sounds like your expectations were not met due to an overly optimistic competion time. My custom order took just under 4 months...and I couldn't be happier with the end result. Fortunately the dealer made no representations about the length of time it would take. I expected it to take 6 months and was pleasantly surprised with the shorter build time.
pressure Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Ordered my Mille DC March 5th 2011. It should be done March this year. It's a very special order and Heritage are doing exactly what needs to be done, greatness takes time. Relax sit back and play your Tele while you wait.
rookie Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 The dealer had told me the 3 months. They then told me it was about to be shipped a couple of times which is oviously not the case...

TalismanRich Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I think 3 months sounds pretty short. 4 would be quick, 6-9 would be more normal, but it could easily take a year if you are having something really special. Something like a 157 or 150 would probably be a lot quicker than an archtop. It takes time to build an archtop with the various pieces, carving, perfing, gluing, etc. Sop, what type of guitar did you order?
tulk1 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Always want the dealer to mention to mention the HOc when special ordering. But, looks like you weren't a member then, so moot point I guess. I'm still surprised at the long lead times being mentioned for current special orders. Back in 07/08 maybe. But not now. My first special order, after PSPI, took 30 days from order to my door (which leads me to believe they had something like it already in the works). My second took longer, but less than 4 months.
Buckyrock Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 My H-157 took 9 months last year- January 2011 to October 2011. But it really didn't get started until I visited the factory in June 2011. No idea what was going on between the dealer and Heritage from January to June.
Buckyrock Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I should add that my H-157 is the best guitar I've ever owned. It was well worth the wait. The "necessary" trip to the factory was really an added bonus. I was given the opportunity to meet Jim Deurloo, choose my body and top wood, and my fretboard with inlay. Pretty cool. Getting ready to order another...
bolero Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 well, wasn't someone here talking about a massive 200 guitar order in 2011, by Wolfe? that would explain the backlog
DavesNotHere Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 40+ years and counting......but since I haven't yet actually placed an order, it's as Blind Willie Johnson would say "Nobody's fault but mine" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW1SRJrNZZw
bluesgolfer Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 well, wasn't someone here talking about a massive 200 guitar order in 2011, by Wolfe? that would explain the backlog If that's the case, Wolfe made a ton of money selling Heritage guitars because he is now down to about 36 pieces in inventory last I looked, unless some of the order still has yet to be delivered.
blueox Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 40+ years and counting......but since I haven't yet actually placed an order, it's as Blind Willie Johnson would say "Nobody's fault but mine" Now, there's a forthright man! I know it's an old post , but great to hear Blind Willie.
pressure Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Because this thread got revived I went into my refrigerator records for the Mille build. Started the process 12-31-10, firmed things up 3-5-11 and received this very special Mille, made for a very special player, by a very special guitar shop on 7-19-2012. A lot of things went into this Mille that caused it to take this much time to build (the spruce top had to dry through the winter for one) but it is an absolutely fab guitar. While I waited I played a Telly.
unikh550 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Took 8 months to get my custom H-550 back in '98. Took 5 months to get it back from a recent refinishing and touchup by Pete Moreno. Know how you feel.- Charley Bevell, Bloomington, IN
