RhoadsScholar Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I finally got to take the SkyDog Blueburst (should be a Heritage Signature Model) out for a spin at the local blues Jam. Very versitile with the HRWs and the coil taps. The guitar is a real looker . I have said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm Keeping this one ! For Sure !! Needed to rock it out a little as I enjoy the clean voicings when practicing at home. The is one of the few guitars (the other being hte MidiEagle) that doesn't look like a GuitarHero Controller or mandolin when I play it. For those in the Detroit area, Mr. Bigs, in Waterford hosts a great Thursday night blues jam. Show up and play. I couldn't help but take a long guitar solo with this great guitar even though there was a great keyboardist hiding behind the sign up sheet. Mainly wanted to show off the guitar, not necessarily the playing (although playing this guitar makes me happy I usually make it on Thursday nights and every so often a heritage or two shows up. Here is the guitar Again And here is the jam. Shoot me a PM if you decide to come on down to Waterford.
RhoadsScholar Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 This was the picture of the BlueBurst I really wanted to POST (my bad) http://s1152.photobu...rent=hblue1.png
bolero Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 hey that was great, you were really wailing away there!! are any of you guys part of the detroit blues society? I bumped into a guy who was telling me about it....and some big weekend party they throw every year...mudfest?
RhoadsScholar Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Joining the Detroit Blues Society is on my 2012 bucket list. There is a club close by (Callahan's) that hosts a few of their get together's; Callahan's brings in some pretty top acts and the venue is pretty great, good sound system, small setting. Usually you can hang with the artist after the show.
blueox Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 It looks like Mr. Big is a good place to jam and show off your Blueburst. That's a keeper for sure.
DetroitBlues Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 looks like a lot of fun! Using KBP amplification?

RhoadsScholar Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 DetroitBlues I have heard that (haven't gone to a meeting, but have picked up a few of their newsletter's)... They do have a cool logo. The guy that hosts the open jam (cooley pope) is a member. I'll have to ask him...
FredZepp Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Yeah.. that's rockin' ... You've got a smokin' tone on that 555...
michaeljames Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 i'm thinkin' thats me! the narcesist (sp)i am ~ it really is about you! "when i come home ~ baby ~"
2bornot2bop Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Sounding great RS! There's nuthin' like a Thursday night jam to start the weekend off right. Growin' up in Cal' during the 60's we heard that cut often...took me back a ways. Thanks!

Is that like AA: "My name is Josh and I'm a bluesaholic...."? And if so is it a 12 step, or 12 bar program? And RhodesScholar: Great jam and thanks for mentioning Callahans. I looked them up and was pretty impressed with the acts they host. Larry Carlton, and Duke Robillard in just the last month; I'm going to have to check it out further.

The hope for the society was to help bands find a gig, but it really doesn't do that.
Joe Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 There are meetings a jam sessions. The hope for the society was to help bands find a gig, but it really doesn't do that. The newsletter does advertise bookings and the website does also. So they do help bands promote themselves. Helping keep the blues alive.
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Cool! I like the little dance you got going on while playing the rhythm part. I have heard of Mr.Big. A friend of mine whom I went to college with has played foosball tournaments there. Not sure if they still do that there anymore.
RhoadsScholar Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 They have the room (presently occupied by pool tables, but they could clear them out.. BTW: My dancing only comes with the liquid courage i take prior to playing . I need to work on the "Guitar Facial Expressions" more. There should be a class for that. Maybe we could start a thread.
JackBaruth Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Grr... every time I see that thing I get mad enough to spit. How did I miss that. If you were a normal-sized man I would beat you up, take it away from you, and rain $100 bills on your prone body by way of mild recompense
RhoadsScholar Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Jack, from what I remember at PSP IV, you have a pretty nice Green 555 and more where that came from. It would be hard to line them all up (Your Green and Red, my BlueBurst) and pick one. After seeing your Green 555, my quest began for something other than sunburst (already got that one covered). You have quite the collection sir. If anyone finds me knocked out at PSP V, and my blueburst is nowhere to be found, check Jack's signature line for a Blueburst
fxdx99 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Very cool, Bob. That is one good looking/sounding guitar. Like the way you take it up a notch ~1:40 and from ~2:20 on you're just burning! Looks like a fun jam. Drummer's got the groove locked down. I lived in Waterford during middle school years, then over to Union Lake for end of high school, but that was a couple/few years ago.

You have to be able to make it 12 steps in and out of 12 bars by without crawling! LOL! But its true, i'm a Bluesaholic! Can't get enough of it!
