That's one gorgeous looking guitar. The bridge appears similar to those stock on Guild archtops, almost identical to the bridge on my X-500.

How's the Benedetto?

Very cool. Who is Tim Jones?

That would be me. I couldn't very well put jazz hack. Well... I could but that would surely deflate my ego.

How's the Benedetto?

I am sold on Benedetto's and have been for quite some time. IMHO they are the best. In another thread they were talking about achieving clear acoustic sounds from an archtop . I can do that with this PUP.

I really don't what's stock on it anymore. I gave up trying to figure it out. Ren old me that they were using Benedetto PUPs about the time the guitar was being build in '98 but it came with a Benedetto PG. I didn't like it, just a heavy old chunk of plastic. I put the Eagle inlay one on about 7 months ago. I have the matching mahogany PG with the cream binding too but put that up in the for sale thread. If it doesn't sell I'll keep it and put another PUP on it. It also has and ebony finger board which I really like. Pete Moreno told me that it is the only Mahogany Eagle he's seen with the Eagle inlay head stock. He also said that the hardware was what is mostly found on the Johnny Smith model but I've seen at least one other model with the same hardware. I found it in a mom & pop music store several years ago all beat up. I knew it was meant for me the second I played it and the owner was glad to get rid of it. It is one of three "to the grave" guitars I own.

Tim, your Mahogany Eagle is definitely a 'Classic'!

Would you describe the acoustic tone as warmer due to the mahogany?

And does the clarity of the Benedetto pickup enhance the guitar's acoustic tone or help transfer it to an amp in a natural way?

I've read positive reviews on his p'ups and they are often compared to Kent Armstrong's hand wound jazz paf's.

The tone is definitely warmer than say a Johnny Smith. If I am not mistaken the original L5's were made from mahogany. Not that I am comparing it to a Gibson because I am not. It is very different in may ways. It has a very old sounding warm jazzy tone. I'm sure the Benedetto PUP helps create that sound. Benedetto's are made by Seymour Duncan for the Benedetto company. I know the Kent Armstrong's hand wound jazz paf's are very good PUP's but I would match the Benedetto's up against them anytime anywhere. Of course, I am very biased. I have one on my favorite guitar. However that being said when not plugged in it have a very full warm resonance sound. And yes, I would say that the clarity of the Benedetto pickup does enhance the guitar's acoustic tone or help transfer it to an amp in a natural way? I rarely play this guitar with any effects.

 Sorry, couldn't help it.

That is certainly a grave guitar. Simple and refined. It oozes "guitar Player" A class act!

I bet she sounds like heaven warmed over!
