Teeky Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 What's with the flurry of GEs lately? I've been agonising for ages on what stablemate to get for my 575. I loved the look of the blue Super KB, but what's the chance of that? Then I spotted this Golden Eagle, spruce top, HRWs, ebony board and black key Grovers. Just waiting for it now to ship. Can't wait to get my hands on it. A few vendor pics now but hopefully some more later.
fretless Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Wow ! That is a beauty . What year is that fine instrument ?
Teeky Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 I guess I'll have unidentical twins now. The Golden Eagle and the 575 are both 2006.
bobmeyrick Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Saw that one on eBay and resisted the temptation!
Teeky Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Well I guess some damn fool had to go for it! Clicking is easy - the hardest thing is convincing the wife that you REALLY need another guitar.
nicknickhall Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Well I guess some damn fool had to go for it! Clicking is easy - the hardest thing is convincing the wife that you REALLY need another guitar. Not sure this will help, but, "How many guitars does a guitar player need?" --"One More!" that's a beauty!
Teeky Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Yes, I'm hoping it looks as good in the wood. The Dark Almond Sunburst finsih seems to add a lot of dark and light contrast to the body. I'm dying to compare the difference in tone of the spruce and HRWs compared to the maple and Golden Age pups I'm used to. I suppose many will say you can't hear the resonance of the spruce once it's amplified, but I'm hoping something will be evident.
Steiner Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Now I know why they call them "Super." Beautiful!!!
Teeky Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Dunno Brent. Is it a Super Eagle indeed? It was sold as a Golden Eagle but it is different to many GEs in having more than just the neck pup. It's coming complete with its original paperwork so I'll be able to check it out on arrival.
MartyGrass Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 BEAUTIFUL!!! is that a super eagle? It's butt is too small for a Super Eagle. Note how large the f holes look. That gives you a quick idea. All the other stuff about the TP and inlays aren't as reliable. That guitar should not disappoint.
FredZepp Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 That certainly is a stunning instrument. Made by Kalamazoo's finest.. a work of art, no less.
Teeky Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Thanks guys. The Super Eagles appear to have split block inlays but I guessany custom feature is possible with Heritages. Great observation. about the f holes on the Golden Eagle - they extend right into the waist area. Got to wait till next week for delivery now. Agreed with vendor to ship first thing next week to avoid possiblity of checking the finish by it sitting in a freezing warehouse over the weekend!
2bornot2bop Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Thanks guys. The Super Eagles appear to have split block inlays and SE's possess exceptionally wide butts. Ever observed Jennifer Lopez from a side view profile? An SE has the same visual impact as a J-Lo butt. There's no doubt about what you've just seen for it's in your face...It's like BAMMMMM!!!...what the??? You recognize both of 'em the moment you see 'em! Trust yo'self, you won't have to ask once you've seen one.
NoNameBand Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Unbelievable. That is sooo beautiful it's impossible to describe. Congratulations on your new guitar.
