Is there any disadvantage to adding a Bigsby

I have Bigsbys on three of my guitars, I use them a lot, no tuning problems.. At all!

as for a loss of sustain... I don't think so.. but some people will claim a bolt on neck decreases sustain. Still others will tell you that a roller bridge decreases sustain.

Most of the people who think that a bigsby is hard to change strings on, and that it robs sustain and that it will have tuning stability problems are people who don't have guitars with bigsbys.

It is more work to restring a guitar with a Bigsby, but not that much more.

It is also more work to change strings on the famous Heritage bail tailpiece. The strings can pop off when you tighten them if they are not in there just right. Again, it's not a big issue.

String and tuning is not a deal at all.

I have an old Guild Starfire III that sounds great (and sustains fine) but I don't like to play it sitting down because the bigsby messes with the balance of the otherwise very light guitar. Somehow it doesn't stay put on my leg. Fine with a strap and fine standing. Not a big deal but if I had a harp tailpiece in my parts drawer, I'd put it on. my $.02.

As I only stated I heard those theories, but never confirmed any.

All this Bigsby talk and I'm thinking about doing it!

Do you recommend putting a roller bridge on with it?

ha, thx guys!

I was initially going to install a B7 with holes etc but tried that out instead....it works really well. and if I ever want to go back to a stoptail again, it's easy & there will be no ugly holes.

that'll also work on an H150/les paul

re:the changing strings issue, check this thing out....those vibramate guys sure have some great ideas
