Ned Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I am curious how people are attaching straps to the large jack end-pin. For my Sweet 16, I opened up the hole on a leather strap, but the thickness is a bit of a challenge. Anything clever out there?
kbp810 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I would add another button, replace it with one of the tailpiece screws. Better yet, strap locks!
DetroitBlues Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 How about this? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_parts/Acoustic_guitar:_Bridge_and_endpins/2-groove_Endpin_Jack_Button.html
Teeky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I ordered a Ranger strap from Eyeland - http://www.eyelandenterprises.com/html/straps2.html and you can specify the strap hole for regular strap button, end-pin jack or strap lock ends. Fits my end-pin jack a treat. The straps are a bit pricey but worth it for a Sweet 16!
Kuz Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I would add another button, replace it with one of the tailpiece screws. Better yet, strap locks! This is what I did and it work GREAT!!!!
Ned Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Great variety of options. Thank you very much. Still mulling...
Ned Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Ok KBP Took me a second look to see what you did. Brilliant. Looks like that guitar gets some play too. Thank you very much, I think we have a winner.
Gitfiddler Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Found this buried in the archives... http://web.archive.o...tageguitar.com/ End Pin Attachment.bmp
Ned Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Mr. Fiddler, Good digging. The catalogs and picture archives are astounding. I wish the wayback machine would allow making purchases. The link you provided might help Mr. Teeky in his survey. Thank you
RJLII Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I had the factory add a rim jack to my H-550 so I could use a conventional straplock at the end pin location.
Alswin Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I put straplocks on every guitar I own just for good measure and if there is any way you can do it I would. I've had some close calls and a bandmate in my last band had a SRV strat (without locks) fall out of the strap and hit the headstock on a concrete floor. Front button let go of the strap and it just let the neck end fall. It didn't break but left a nasty mark and he has never gotten over it happening. Even with the straplocks I always check that the buttons are still held tightly but the screws and check the hardware on the strap to make sure it is tight, those will loosen up over time as the strap flexes and ages too.
