bebove64 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 It's a 2007 (X27102),definitely a stunning axe , but the guitar has a crack under the switch( agh I didn't notice it at first visual check of the pic). The seller told me that the guitar is ok, that the top has not been compromised ,but I think it took a big hit (strong blow maybe is more correct?!?!) The price required is now 1600 Euro (1USD=0,75€).How much can it lose value with this crack? Herebelow the vid : Could a good luthier resolve this problem? Any Advice? Thanks bebove
bebove64 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 ops, the vid is in italian, but you can check the crack very well through the entire vid thanks for looking
MartyGrass Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 If you don't hit it on the toggle switch again, it should outlive you. That area is not under tension, so the crack shouldn't spread. A luthier could a brace there, but I wouldn't do it unless the crack is spreading. If you buy it, you can measure the crack as a baseline and remeasure every year or so to allay your fears.
bebove64 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 thanks Marty! to buy or not to buy this is the problem......
Gitfiddler Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Negotiate with the seller for the cost of repairs as well as the mental angst of seeing such an insult to such a fine arcthtop. Good luck.
