smurph1 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Since I got my ASAT, I've been totally in Love with it..It's such a versatile guitar!! But after 3 or 4 months of playing it exclusively I decided to take the 535 out and give it a whirl...I've had it for almost 2 years now, and recently had the frets dressed on it.. I lowered the action on it a bit and re=intonated it, then plugged her into the Cavern Club!! Wowzers!! Humbucker Heaven!! It's nice to have choices!!

eljay Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 i've never played a 535 (!) closest was thundersteel's 555 at psp3. ya gonna bring yer 535 to "V" ?
brentrocks Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I know how you feel Scott...i feel the same way every time i play the Skolnick and the 357
FredZepp Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Humbucker Heaven!! It's nice to have choices!! It is very nice to have choices.. you may need to rotate through them a bit more often. Rediscovering an old friend is very nice.

I smell the next Eljay Heritage Custom Order coming up; Just one suggestion, Larry; give humbuckers a chance, you P-90 snob! haha
koula901 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Same thing happens to me, Scott - my 137 is my 'go to' guitar because I really like the neck and it's got P90s, but every once in awhile I pickup that 535 and I'm in love all over again. And with all this Heritage love in my home, the strat got ignored a lot until I finally brought home a fender amp and now that sounds great! Fred's right - ya gotta rotate them every once in awhile. I figure, they all do something different, so, I've gotta keep all of them - but of course, I'm talking to a bunch of addicts here, no need to justify having more than one guit.!
eljay Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 but of course, I'm talking to a bunch of addicts here, no need to justify having more than one guit.! ya got that right . . . sistah!
Gitfiddler Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 JUSTIFY! Scott, when you come back to playing one of your lonely gitfiddles, it's almost like getting a new one...all over again.
schundog Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 ^ ^ ^ my last two H acquisitions have seths! My apologies; I absolve thee.... Scott, you KNEW that 535 rocked; don't feel bad, it's OK to be promiscuous with your guitars! Besides, you aren't BONDING with your 535, you are just RE-BONDING with her.
Spook410 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 You know.. if you have coil taps and phase switches on your 535 that could be the 'one guitar on a desert island'.

LOL and now I've added a Strat..It plays like buttah..
Hfan Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I was deep into Teles for months, my 535 helped me get out of their clutches to some extent. It is nice to have choices. I kind of equate a well set up Heritage to being like a luxurious limo and my Teles as more of a raw stripped down hot rod if that makes any sense to anyone.

fxdx99 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Suffering succotash, Scott! I've seen that beauty of a 535 you have and you've gottta keep that in the rotation. I used the tele/535 as the go-to guits when I played in a blues band. Wonderful combo.
yoslate Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 i've never played a 535 (!) ya gonna bring yer 535 to "V" ? Larry, I'll have mine with me at PSPV. It has Seths. It is the best guitar I've ever owned! You are more than welcome to spank it for as long as you like. Plug it in, and jam a set with it. Like Randy, my 535 and my Tele are frequently what I take to gigs. No base I can't cover with those two!
gpuma Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 in my case, I have the same feeling when I play my Stat. I believe it's no so much because of the tone... it's about the years we have been together
