tsp17 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 http://www.berklee.edu/news/2008/07/jmiles_montreux.html I saw this kid (recent Berklee grad) really light it up on a 535 through an Egnater last night. check him out. I was impressed. link to his senior recital: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eh3qEyTFNZM his solo starts at about 3:21 but the whole thing is worth a listen.
pegleg32 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 That proves a point that some of our teaching members made on a previous post - not ALL young people have quit playing and listening to Jazz and Blues. This kid is really good too.
Gitfiddler Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 SWINGIN'!!!!!!! I'll have to remember his name...Jeff Miles...kinda like Jeff Lorber riffs meet Miles Davis's bebop. Nice, very nice indeed.
nicknickhall Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Great Playing! and performance critique: He should stop bouncing in place like that. Almost enough to make me seasick.
tsp17 Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 he tore it up live last night. was fun to watch.
Teeky Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Fabulous intensive performance from Jeff Miles. Is it a youth thing on that he didn't comp behind the piano player as more established players would. Eases you in to your solo. From the performance he didn't need any easing obviously.
Horace Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Good tune, good playing, good tone, good recording ! Those kids have really taken advantage of their excellent education opportunity. An inspiration to all of us. Horace

Laying out during a piano solo is not uncommon.
