yoslate Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 This made me think of the time I replied to this kind of query with 'Wire wool and Dettol', Rob I remember that one, well, Howard! I laughed for a couple of days. Didn't you pretty immediately post a disclaimer, thinking that dry Brit wit might be misconscrewed...?
TalismanRich Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Naphtha shouldn't harm a nitro finished. Its not a good solvent for that type of material. Don't use alcohol on it, or especially anything with acetone (fingernail polish remover) on a nitro finish, tho. It can dissolve it in a heartbeat. One of the nice things about refinishing a nitro finish is that the old resin will redissolve when the new finish is applied. It will reseal any cracking and fill in nicely.
High Flying Bird Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I clean my guitars the same way a cat cleans it's ass.

2bornot2bop Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 as James Jamerson said: "the gunk gives it the funk!" a quick wipe with a damp cloth usually does it for me...have used naptha on nasty stuff & it seems fine, but I sure wouldn't use it very often; don't really need to James Jamerson - Now there's a bass player for the ages!
