SpaniSlash Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Hi everybody from Spain! I've seen this in WIKIPEDIA: "Possible Closure As of August 2007, the Heritage Guitars website has noted that the company is undergoing financial restructuring, and denies rumors that it is closing permanently." What about it?????????
Yankeefan01 Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I wouldn't believe everything you read in Wiki. Check out some of threads in this forum for more valid and up to date info.
deluxemeat Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 wiki can be edited by anyone. you, me, heritage, someone who hates heritage, someone who loves em... anyone. so things on wiki are NOT always official and not always accurate.
JohnCovach Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 That's very true about Wiki. But in this case, the Wiki entry is accurate, as other threads on this board will confirm.

Accurate is kind of stretching it I think. "Possible Closure" is an option of course but I really doubt it. Saying that they're possibly going to start giving away all their guitars is also possible. Will it probably happen, I doubt it.
JohnCovach Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Here's what's on Wiki: Possible Closure As of August 2007, the Heritage Guitars website has noted that the company is undergoing financial restructuring, and denies rumors that it is closing permanently. This seems like an accurate and responsible handling of the current situation. BTW, I'm not defending this because I wrote it--I didn't.

While I read the same thing you did, I'm looking at the sensationalized title of the entry. Which is a little mis-leading.
Dick Seacup Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I will tell you guys the same thing I tell my sons... Anything is possible. Whether or not it comes to pass, however, is a question of probability. Is it possible that Heritage will never reopen? Absolutely. It's also possible that they'll reopen making nothing but Fender Telecaster knockoffs. Are either of those things probable? Not reopening is, IMHO, more probable than becoming a tele-clone builder. But, the question is, "How likely is it that Heritage is not going to resume production?" Based on what we've been told by Jay Wolfe and others who've spoken with Ren, I'd say not very. Then again, with every day that passes without some official announcement...
JohnCovach Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Well, there is a rumor going around that Heritage is closing up shop. It wouldn't be noteworthy in an entry like this if that kind of thing weren't already circulating within the guitar community. I regret seeing it stated so bluntly too, but it's what people are thinking. I have to say I don't think that's the way it's gonna go, but I also don't think things are going to be the way they have been either. As we've heard from some pretty reliable folks, the business will be sold and the senior guys will stick around to help get things back up to speed. But whether all the work will continue to be done in the Kalamazoo shop is the biggest unknown in all this. It seems like there are several factors working against it. Whenever I think about this, I always come back to thinking that Gibson is passing up a golden opportunity for a Kalamazoo custom shop here, even though that would be the end of the Heritage brand.

I agree. Didn't think about that one. Hope they don't though. Like you said, that would be the end of Heritage as we know it.
Thundersteel Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 On a side note, I've noticed a lot of Ebay auctions with higher prices on Heritages. Apparently, word is getting around that Heritage is in trouble.
