Cobra Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 16" laminate body, 2.25" rim depth, Groove Master rounded cutaway, 2 Lollar P90's, Tonepros TOM bridge, chrome trapeze tailpiece, 535 pickup switch location, bound headstock, no fingerboard inlays, & a big fat neck, in sunset burst. Whadya think? Can they do it? Will they do it? Jay Wolfe or J. Hale?
brentrocks Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 if anyone will make it happen it would be Wolfe
FredZepp Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 And in Sunset burst....! we've seen some sweet ones done in that finish.

Cobra Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 Gitfiddler, your awesome & beautiful 525 is a huge inspiration to me, & the only thing I don't care for is the pointy cutaway, but it's not a deal breaker by any means. If they say no go to the Groove Master rounded cutaway, It's no biggie. I was searching for 525 pix one day & found many of your guitar. It's stunning, totally off the hook!!! BTW, how big is the neck on yours? Is it standard size? I played a Millie at J.Hale last Saturday that Jeff told me was a standard neck. I liked just fine, & I could live with it, but given my druthers, I'd go even bigger. Somewhere between the standard & nocaster size would be right in my wheelhouse.
BrianToth Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Ask them for the "chunky" neck carve. Close to a '59 profile. The one on my Prospect is .87 at the first fret with a normal taper. A big "C" but with a bit more shoulder, almost a "U" shape. The rest of your specs are crazy cool. The only thing I'd add is an ebony board, but that's just me. And Jeff's a good guy but I'd think that Jay can get it done for you better.

Just as Flyin' Brian mentioned, I ordered a chunky '59 neck profile and could not be happier. It also has mini block inlays, bound headstock, pearl inlayed Heritage logo, custom pickguard, choice woods, and Tone Pros bridge. Ask for the moon for your custom order and then check the price. I backed off of a few things after the price went over my budget. In the end I got a fantastic, one of a kind gitfiddle that has my personal touches. You only go around once in this crazy life. Get what you really want.
