dr_iggi Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I have a stock H525 with Lollar P90 dogear pickups. All my guitars have single coils and would like to try a humbucking bridge alternative that would match the P90 neck nicely. Found that TV Jones offers dogear rings for his English Mount format... and thus this thread. I have emailed TV Jones about this, but curious about what the Heritage brotherhood has to say. What would be a nice TV Jones pickup to try in this combination? Stock Lollar P90 dogear - neck TV Jones ??? with dogear ring - bridge I use the neck position most of the time, both clean and overdriven. But sometimes I do move to the middle or bridge positions for overdrive/distortion. So the middle position needs to have a good pickup match. Cheers!
PunkKitty Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I would contact TV Jones for guidance. I haven't used TVJ pickups. But I know the Gretsch counterparts tend to be low output. P90s are typically in the 7-8k range. High Sensitivity Filtertrons are usually in the 4-5k range. I'm guessing that you want a fairly balanced sound rather than having the P90 much louder than the TVJ.
big bob Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 You should consider a lollar mini hum. I have three in my 170 and they sound awsome. Nice crisp attack, chimey tone that can get super chrunchy..
