MartyGrass Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Here is the best example I could find. Kenny Burrell plays this live on his Heritage Concert Master, which is basically an x-braced Super Eagle with a single HRW on Heritage's award winning (made that up!) 4 point mounts. This sounds exactly like my Super Eagle with a set of alloy (semi-bright) flatwounds. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LD1P9G/ref=dm_mu_dp_trk6 The HRW tone is distinct. The bass is a little muddy and the treble is crytal clear, slightly thin without being shrill. Mids are well voiced. The hollowbody influence is well captured. Compare this to a PAF style pickup on a similar but slightly smaller archtop. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000THAYMS/ref=dm_mu_dp_trk11
