BigJim Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 What year did Heritage stop making the stinger on the back of headstocks?
SouthpawGuy Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Possibly the early to mid '90s, and as far as I know it is still available as an option.
DetroitBlues Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Still an option.... I believe KPB custom 157 has one...
kbp810 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Still an option.... I believe KPB custom 157 has one... Indeed it does
MartyGrass Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 My soon-to-arrive 1995 Johnny Smith doesn't have a stinger but the 1992 did. 2001 Super Kenny Burrell and 2005 Super Eagle have stingers. So I'm curious about this. I never paid attention really. My preference is to not have a stinger unless the back of the headstock is unattractive. I don't like covering up natural art with black paint. Here's a stinger that's covering up something nice. Here's a stinger with a hangover. 2006 Golden Eagle.
DetroitBlues Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 that last one appears to be a little off center....
FredZepp Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 My 1986 and 1992 Heritages have one, my 1989 and 2000 models do not. And the 1994 one is finished in black, so I can't tell... Oh, and my 1999 has one..
Steiner Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 That wood gives me... Well... Wood AND a Stinger!!!
SouthpawGuy Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Some great stinger shots, love them on a Heritage
DavesNotHere Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Just my 2 cents....a non-black Heritage stinger. And while were at it, some of those necks are simply too beautiful for a stinger
Gitfiddler Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Stingers are cool...on Mahogany necks. But only 'ok' on Maple necks. Just my preference, and probably because I agree that black paint should not cover up great looking wood. It is a matter of personal taste.
Kuz Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I can take them or leave them, but I guess (as Mark mentioned) I agree don't cover up great wood with black paint.
