sorry for my english. Is it true that on h-150 Goldtoptop is not from maple, there is mahogany? If so, then I'm interested in the answer to the question - how the sound will be different from the usualh-150 series whith maple top from a series of Goldtop with top mahogany?

My GoldTop H150 has a maple cap. It is designated H150CM. The CM stands for Curly Maple. It isn't seen because of the opaque gold paint, but the maple cap is there. I think pretty much all H150's have a maple top. If a guitar is made with all mahogany it will sound darker with more bass and less highs.

I don't believe Heritage makes a solid Mahogany body unless specifically requested on a custom order for the 140's and 150's. Here's a real simple way to check.... Losen or remove the strings, remove one of the pickups, and look inside the cavity. You should see a lighter wood about 1/2 thick and a darker wood below it...

Heritage once made an all mahogany 150 designated the H150M. They no longer do this series except on special order.

totonka has one and there is a pic of it in the Gallery.

Or you can take a sharp object and stab the top. Maple is a very hard wood, mahogony is not. If it leaves an impression, it is mahogony.

ok, thanks to all, that means friend from this forum who sold me my 157 was wrong when he said that the goldtops made of mahogany top (not whole body, but it is back from mahogany and mahogany top too). I just decided to check this information, thanks to all who did not remain in different and replied to me. It means GT's are not different according to the specifications of other 150's, if we do not take into account the custom order.

sorry my BAD english. it's translator

Did you remove the pickups to see the wood inside the body?

You should see something like this. (Thanks for the photo Brent!)

You can sometimes see the bottom of the maple layer underneath the binding inside the cutaway.
