DetroitBlues Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I did see the Las Vagas Guitar Center got a Heritage Blues Deluxe (which really looks like a 555) for $1200....
111518 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Just to clarify, the trus rod nut on Heritage guitars is the same size as on Gibsons. Can be adjusted with a 5/16ths nut driver, or special tools are available that feature longer length to clear the peghead and/or thinner walls to fit more easily within the cavity than most standard nutdrivers. I checked on the Stew Mac site, and they no longer sell my favorite truss rod wrench, which had a long T-handle which made it very easy to visualize how much of a turn you had made. They do, however, still sell a long, thin-walled, 5-16th wrench. I never liked the short wrenches that often come with guitars. not enough leverage, too much interference --not a good choice, in my experience. Sorry about your guitar. I've got one guitar(not a Heritage) with a nonfunctional truss rod ... hard to even find anyone who wants to take on the job of replacing a truss rod, so, definitely made the right call to send it back.

DetroitBlues Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yep, but I don't think its what they labeled it as. The Blues deluxe was just a 535 or Prospect with Ed's custom ordered Duncans and special colors, weren't they?

Yep Definitely a Big Job to replace a truss rod..IIRC, it involves removing the fingerboard..Not Fun and NOT CHEAP!!
big bob Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Wow, that appears to be a nice deal and GC has that easy return policy I believe. Blues deluxe was an Ed Roman model? They were very well appointed prospects, with a solid center block. and if i'm not mistaken this one in particular was the one that Marty bought and had to send back because of an un-disclosed head stock repair..
